Montgomery was in a photo showing the back of his helmet on the sidelines at San Diego game Davis Enterprise article. Whether he is not playing due to physical ailment or due to coaches decision has not been commented on.

Moore left team after last season. Montgomery isn’t playing although suited up. But anyway I think Harrell was very key to the explosive success we had in game 1 and 2

Nice analysis on us but only focused on Doss, Maier and Anesi. Obviously how we finish is dependent on other guys. If we ‘re going to be better against the run on defense we need to improve systemically, not just Anesi getting Bua’s tackles. I think Anesi had one tackle against Stanford; Also, in our two wins Doss wasn’t the yardage leader in receptions if I recall correctly. It’s our overall depth of receivers that makes our offense click.
  • Moving Up In Polls
I think the coaches poll reflects the low regard that we were held in the Big Sky preseason coaches poll. If we win games against the top teams in the conference our ranking will jump this year and going forward. We’ve got something to prove in that we’ve never beat Montana or Eastern Washington.
  • Week 3: UC Davis @ Stanford
historically our inside linebackers usually make more than their share of tackles.
  • Week 3: UC Davis @ Stanford
A difference in this game as lack of receptions by WRs not named Doss, Harrel didn’t play.
Corners safeties and outside linebackers made most the tackles. Too bad Stanford doesn’t have the post game interview like San Jose State
  • Week 3: Big Sky
Thats a surprising margin, too bad.

    N. Arizona 8.
    Missouri State 40
A mild upset by a surprising margin

We have seen what the offense can do against FCS teams in earlier games including last year. Change on offense are mostly limited to a few offensive linemen. Those new OL guys haven’t embarrassed themselves.
The big question was the defense. So far this year it seems they can get critical stops and turnovers.
It looks like we have the players we need to be a very good team. Lots of room for improvement everywhere but the pieces all seem to be there.

Moore not on this year’s roster. Montgomery suited up against San Diego, picture was in Enterprise. His absence from games is mysterious unless he is redshirting Freshmen Kraft and Costello and a few others played. I suspect Maier missed having Harrell out there.

Haven’t seen final stats but Harrell didn’t play apparently, and neither did Logan Montgomery. We had some dropped passes by some of our other receivers. It is curious about Montgomery.
  • Week 3: UC Davis @ Stanford
We didn’t play conservative, we just didn’t play no huddle. We didn’t want a lot of plays in the game
It’s like gambling. When the odds are against you making fewer bets gives you a better chance to beat the odds. Part of the gamble was some of our trick plays working, I don’t think any did, and also going for it on fourth down near mid field and later forgoing a field goal for a fourth down play both we gambles we lost. Carson Crawford must be a pretty good passer in practice. It will be nice to see him throwing some completions.
It would have been interesting to see how the no huddle would have worked though.
Not much hope for the run game against this opponent but kudos to Modise

This game will help our computer rankings. Losing by 20 to a top 10 team is a positive. We actually have impressive team stats, like their third down conversions 3-14
  • Week 3: UC Davis @ Stanford
I think today will increase their confidence, particularly defensive players.
We need to develop a better running game but this game was a high bar to cross so I wouldn’t make too much of their ineffectiveness in this game,

Radio announcers don’t seem to be up to date on the redshirt rule. Thought Rodrigues burned a year
  • Week 3: UC Davis @ Stanford
Encouraging game. Defense better than expected, offense predictably had trouble against a team that was tough against USC.
Big thing is it had the feel of a football game. We didn’t get steamrollered.
  • Week 3: UC Davis @ Stanford
    Sobering fact:
Stanford is third in FBS allowing 6.5 points per game. ... The Cardinal haven't allowed a TD in the past 107 minutes and 38 seconds of game action. ...
  • The Stanford Robber Barons, or Thunderchickens
burgundy and gold...., have to change some lyrics..
Very complicated situation we have here. We are Aggies; which I believe are people. but we don’t have an Aggie mascot, and our horse is not a farm horse. And after 100 years we have to tell people each week what our schools name is, and we’ve been doing that for at least 12 years.

Maybe we should be the Yale? After the shade of blue? Well, maybe not, might infringe on a trademark or something,

Is this year’s Davis team better than 2005 team?
Both had good QBs, talented wide receivers, NFL prospect tight ends. Quite a similarity.
2005 team had a tough runner in Nelson Doris, who unfortunately sustained an injury in the game that impacted the team for the rest of the year. This year’s team may have more talented but less proven runners.
This year’s team may have the edge at wide receiver, but it would be a slim edge.
I think the 2005 team was better defensively, although this year’s team probably has more talented DBs.
I think our line play was probably better in 2005. But I’m basing that largely on how they played in their win over Stanford, but we were generally able to pass protect, run, and defend the run in that era.
