The computer rankings have little data until there are a few games played and they have comparative scores. At this point in the season most or all computer rankings are still influenced by last season or preseason predictions, so garbage in garbage out. Last season is largely irrelevant this year due to player movement. I’m a believer in computer rankings but only after five or six games,

I find it irritating that analysts keep touting the five returning O linemen, when one is not going to play until later in season. Porotesano is a red shirt freshmen who played in two games prior to this season. ( I don’t know why the team does not classify anyone besides transfers as a redshirt-whatever, makes the team look older than it is,)
  • @ Washington
Does Washington deserve to be ranked? Time will tell.
Obviously they looked pretty good, but they haven’t played a tough enough schedule to overcome their initial placement. Pretty depressing if thats not a top 25 team.
  • @ Washington

Arizona knocked off Weber State 48-3

The imbalance is getting worse. Big Sky teams don’t have as many five and six year players due to COVID extra year phasing out and most Big Sky teams have been pillaged by FBS. The Big Sky isn’t what it was last few years. Add to that the migration of talent to the biggest P4 programs and you get completely uncompetitive games. Eventually these games won’t draw viewers.
Sac isn’t right often but give them credit for recognizing the uncompetitive situation the courts have put FCS football in.

    Are we detached from results?
  • @ Washington
I’m watching the Iowa - Iowa State game and the camera work is horendous. All tight shots away from the play, worst I’ve ever noticed. Not used to watching fox so i hope this isn’t typical
  • Looking forward to 2025

In recent years the defense has been good but not the best in the conference and prone to giving up big plays, and lots of yardage, and scores in the mid 20s. This year they have more of a pass rush, seem to have quality players everywhere so we should expect more, but so far defense still giving up big plays, sustained drives, and mid 20s scores, against average offenses. Not saying it might not all come together but it hasn’t.
  • @ Washington
FCS teams are getting picked apart too. Probably more so.
Davis has been an exception based on the value of a UC degree, but there will be fewer grad transfers now that COVID era players have aged out.
  • @ Washington
And Nevada. Natural and historical rival, within driving distance of Davis. Sometimes beatable.
  • @ Washington
    Washington game week press conference.
Plough knows he isn’t giving Fisher enough carries
Freshmen who are playing won’t redshirt

  • @ Washington

The teams we should be scheduling in the west are the ones remaining in the Mountain West, where if they are having a down year are beatable. Not many years are we going to be competitive with Washington.
Blowout losses have a long term negative impact on image of the team.
  • Looking forward to 2025
Will need to replace all the grad contributors except Ty Richardson who will still have eligibility, since he graduated in two years and will have another year remaining.
  • Looking forward to 2025
yes. They both redshirted first year. For some reason they don’t list players by eligibility, or list their year graduated from high school, so you have to look at their bios which show they have been with team since 2021.
  • @ Utah Tech
Personnel wise we seem to have positive answers from all the new guys getting playing time.
Pinnick, Vargas, Fisher, Porotesano, Dobbins, Jones, Cofield, all had very little experience, but they look good.
The defense looks talented, just needs to cut down on big plays and costly penalties, not surprising given the player turnover.
We haven’t seen AJ Hasson. Could he be the PJ who Plough said was injured during camp?
  • @ Utah Tech

I remain unconvinced that we don’t need a dedicated QB coach. Plough can’t mentor QBs, especially during a game, the offensive coordinator/qb coach never played the position. We spent the last two years talking about how Miles Hastings struggled when Cody Hawkins left, and Miles was a fourth year in 2023.
  • @ Utah Tech

The recording of the game is corrupted, looking like French Impressionist art.. Probably a inadequate internet connection from the school. French Impressionist style
  • @ Utah Tech
The kicker was something like 16 of 18 last year. The block last week isn’t on him
