I hear ya. But I know that at least Sochor used those type of metrics. Maybe it’s old school.
  • 2021 Spring Playoffs

So are they providing in game probabilities, such as with a given score do we kick a field goal or go for 2?

Serious question, do we have a team statistician giving input on critical play calls? This is a thing in the NFL and seems like a very Davis thing to do to go enlist a math nerd.

This is a really good question. I remember under Sochor the data was looked at which influenced play calling in real time. I’ve never heard anything about that analysis since. It might still be happening, but i personally haven't heard about it.

Are our guys still practicing on the chance of a playoff birth?

EW being resuscitated by a late call - that sounds familiar.

I totally agree that without Gilliam things changed. Aside from putting fear into opposing coaches, he is a great blocker. He’s our veteran RB. Larison and Hutton are impressive and this spring schedule provided valuable experience. They will continue to mature.

Same applies to HR and Tompkins. Hunter has some things to work on such as fumbles, throwing the ball away, and PIs. But he certainly has a real nice long ball, which we have been missing for a while.

Can you imagine what would have happened if poly would have grabbed up Tompkins for the triple option? We are blessed to have so much talent at QB and other positions.

Do they pick the top 16?

Scott Berry posted on FB about the call. Apparently during the broadcast he disagreed with the call, but after studying the rule and speaking to some experts, he reversed his opinion. The enigma about that whole review was that there was no flag! I would really like to know how the events unfolded behind the scenes. Has anyone ever observed a review without a flag?

Wife wants to stay in old town so we might be in the same hotel this time. Aside from Tulsa being hard to get to, Pocatello is in the same boat. Fall is really busy for me, so it’s going to have to get closer before I’ll know what other away games I’ll be going to but SD and poly for sure.

I hate calling refs out as bias, but it sure felt like there was favoritism for EW. There were even some comments on the EW board about that. With that said, EW was the better team. Mainly bc of Barrire. He is a real special player.

Time will tell with Tompkins but he is a winner. Even Best, commenting about Barrire’s progression, said they worked on keeping him in the pocket and not scrambling as his first instinct. Rogrigues did better in this game throwing the ball away vs getting sacked. Where was our pass protection and on the other side, pass rush? Barrire just had too much time to pick us apart.

The band had what appeared to be plastic bags on the exhaust end of the instruments. And there were just a handful of them socially distant from one another. I was just glad to hear them again, but i had the radio broadcast going so i didnt really pay attention to the sound quality. BTW, tried the Bose sun glasses out for the radio broadcast. Nice to lose wires and the ear buds. My wife just bought the aeropex bone conduction headphones so i might try those out next season.

I was listening to 1140 in the stands during the game. They made a comment that Rodrigues was injured during practice last week. EW D kept him on his heels and did a good job containing him when there was a busted play. On the flip side, Barriere had plenty of time to pick our secondary apart. And when things collapsed, he gets real dangerous with his tremendous athleticism. Tompkins brings some of that to us. I wish Tompkins was put in earlier.

I wish 1140 didn't have the 2 minute delay between the action and the broadcast. When kdvs did the play by play, there was not a delay.

Next season brings some fun opportunities for travel. I will plan to go to SD and SLO for sure.

No doubt about it in my mind either. As long as Barriere is healthy, they are going to roll.

Not to worry. Tompkins can throw. Frankly, i have always been “high” on him and i think we found a new star.

“ Tompkins ended his high school career ranked No. 2 in Central Section history with 11,743 career passing yards and 138 career TDs… He was the only player in the nation to throw for 5,000 or more and rush for 1,000+ yards in 2018… Finished second in the nation in passing yards, touchdown passes and total yards…”

Just home from the game. I feel like the big sky wanted EW in the playoffs. Refs not calling it straight up. After our bogus targeting call there was a clear targeting call on EW. We were all yelling targeting from the stands. No call. Refs should not be the difference in the game. But EW is legit. I’ll sure be glad when Barriere is gone,

There was no flag, yet up for review?
  • Week 5: #9 Eastern Washington @ #11 UC Davis
    Tompkins, that’s what I’m talking about !

Regardless of play calling, I still hold that we need to put in another qb. Someone like Tompkins can make something happen in those broken plays like our last play of the half.

Barriere has too much time, their d line doing the job
