  • 'Elite' UC Davis mascot ousted, replaced with cow
I see 72s entrande. In this vote To exclude the many other animals on the campus is an outrage! Why not the sheep? Goats? Army has a goat. A cow is an intact female animal. Gunrock was an intact male animal. To be fair we need a non-binary “thing” so Stanford actually got it right with the tree. I think Menlo college are the oaks. So come on guys, let’s come up with something else besides the horse cow thing. OK, cal are the bears. Which kind? UCLA same?

And an Argentine cowboy? Was Santa Barbara once owned by Argentina? Gouchos. What a joke. Now vaqueros might actually work. But I guess a Mexican cowboy doesn’t have the panache of an Argentine one. But that’s Santa Barbara for you.
Question: does the administration have to accept this vote?
  • WBB 2022 Pre-season News and Updates
Wow! New student thing: the cow is best new mascot for uc davis. And it is getting the votes. Don’t really know what to say. . .
  • Students to vote on defending ICA?
The understory here that this may be an actual vote on how these students feel about the university and their education as a whole. So for the administration do dismiss this vote as illegitimate is fraught with the law of “unintended consequences” and the results thereof. They will have to live with the results however they are. My far view: it will not pass. IMHO. It sure is hell is not good for athletic recruiting. But that’s a very minor deal at this point.

Pleas don’t overlook TT. He is a force to be reckoned with! Great heart and great player.
  • MBB Off-season 2022
Yes, it will be very hard for us to get grad transfers for that very reason. System is getting very weird to say the least. If not (I say with some restraint) corrupt. Anything you can game to me is a very messy way for ICA to go. Maybe I should Start watching pro wrestling.
  • Bee article on 2022 baseball season
Finn 2. Good stories do not sell newspapers. I agree this was a hidden hit job on the Aggies but it probably was read by some people. Bee loves to try and take down uc davis when ever it can. But I must say bee is much better than a few years ago. Very nice coverage of Picnic day this year for instance.
  • NIL Is Nothing: California’s Next Big Anti-NCAA Bill Takes the Field
I think movie is right on this. FBS could be worried a little about this bill, but not FCS. Until the Governor signs this into law we should not be upset and frankly I don’t see him signing it. Way too many unsettling issues here. Usually Governors don’t do this and Newsom is a very savvy political guy. So no reason for panic at this point. IMHO for what it is worth. Not much !
  • Spring Practice
I can find nothing on the referendum on the athletic funding vote. Nothing on the Aggie and I don’t subscribe to the enterprise anymore. I believe I saw that the administration pulled it’s support for the whole election idea. When is the vote set? Any opinions on the outcome? Will it even matter?
  • MBB Off-season 2022
I hear your pain, but college basketball will never be the same again. I’m close to giving up on the NBA, but I always loved college BB. Now close to giving up on college MBB.
  • MBB Off-season 2022
I still think that ICA has to address this situation. The TP is not a real threat to football because the roster is so much larger, but for basketball teams it could be disastrous. How does a program respond to a player who says “coach, I need more minutes or I will go into the TP”? And then the player goes into the TP and does not go anywhere. Where does that player stand with the coach then? What about his/her scholarship? Seems this is exactly where the Aggie mens BB team is at this time.
  • MBB Off-season 2022
This is probably best explained by Les or Rocko now or it is a very embarrassing situation for Les if not explained now. Fans could wonder if this is not a sign of a bad or lazy coach. Rocko please let us know!
  • Baseball wins !
Interesting article in the NYT today about baseball being a dying sport. Attendance is way down. Interest in the World Series is way down. In 1975 36 million fans watched the Series versus 12 million last year. Little league participation is down by 50% in parts of the country. Average age of a BB fan is 57. BB is mainly financed by cable networks bundling baseball games into their products so you pay to watch baseball when you are not actually watching baseball. If this changes the author says BB cannot survive in its present form.

So no. I understand he got hit really hard. I as a parent would not let him go. A really great kid and hate to see him go, but with his
Other talents he will do very well in life.

    So HR not coming back?

We will come back but it will take some time. Good

  • WBB: Aggies Playing Pro Abroad
What ever became of Hawkins overseas? He sure was a great player for us. Probably best ever.

  • Contingency plan for smoke?
72 thanks. But I consider myself a forty ninner junkie as well. Grew up in Palo Alto and mowed the lawn of the great Leo Nomellini. Huge guy and pro wrestling guy, but the kindest guy on the front porch you would ever know. Hey kid! I got cokes for you. Everyone love that guy. YA is a legend and I met him as well in his Atherton home in an audacious knock on the door meeting with my audacious best, friend , jim schwartz, expecting to be cast out and no, YA took us in and was a gracious host to two 16 year olds who could not even speak in his presence. My god, what NFL guy would even do that now?
  • MBB Off-season 2022
Any news on the student athlete fees vote? Like when? Any idea if it will pass or not? Just having this on the calendar is not a great thing for recruiting. Imagine what the other recruiting schools are saying about it. Oh, by the way did you hear what uc davis is doing. . . . .?
