I generally agree, but I think .500 would be bare minimum assuming we retain the current staff and the positive recruiting trend continues. People seem to forget last time we played NDSU we lost by 9 (shouldve been closer) on their turf and we're arguably much more talented now.

What I respect about UCD's approach, is once you start shelling out the big bucks, there's no going back. It's kind of like cooking your food. Once it's burned, you can't "un-burn" it, but you can always let it cook longer if you have the time and patience.

I hope we build up, not back, so you feel closer to the action. Better acoustics too?

I think NDSU is going to prove that there is a path for much greater success than .500 in the MWC, even for UCD when/if that happens. Pundits have NDSU middle of the pack, but their brand of football is going to be an awakening for these MWC programs. And we're all accustomed to NDSU in a world with less scholarships to go around.. Will be interesting.

These schools need to stop over-paying for under-performance. My bet is we'll see a "coming back to earth" of coaching salaries in the near future.

Lack of transparency in where each dollar donated goes has always been an issue in my view. Probably holding back a lot more dollars from flowing in.

"Game guarantees" is an interesting way to source revenue. Seems like they're really hanging their hat on this. At the most, you'd get 3 of those per year, in varying degrees of payout and opponent quality. In theory, one could do that at the FCS level too. They're saying Fresno is paying them 400k to play this year (scheduled as an FCS opponent). Do they really think Fresno would pay them double for the same exact game, but with the FBS patch slapped on? Who is to say the programs Sac wants to get paid by don't just schedule an FCS opponent instead? Super strange all around.

I hear you for sure on the lack of direction (at least publicly), but to put it simply, winning cures all. There is demand for GOOD football in the Sacramento area. They have a particular taste. Sacramento has been spoiled with high quality ball at the high school level for years. You put a good product on the field, start tapping into the talent pipeline (we have been moreso recently), and every family east of Davis (potentially even some north bay) is a potential fan. If you're going to spend, you have to be confident in your ability to deliver on the field. I believe we have the people and process in place to do deliver.
