I like the short swing passes to Gilliam on short yardage rather than always up the gut.

    yah, I caught that too.

Well I will say that Hastings runs better than Maier

4-0 and a bunch of empty seats.

There will be no rpo with Hastings - less for their defense to guard against.

Uh oh is right. I like his mobility that Hastings doesn’t have. Hope others pick it up.

Well at least the extra point was blocked - but nothing behind the line of scrimmage for defense.

it really is an ag mech or student club similar to the tractor pull clubs at many US ag schools. My guess is that those sorts of clubs are not at Davis - more of a Midwest and southern thing. Unless there is some sort of existing club with a faculty advisor, it would be difficult to get going.
  • Big Sky and Other FCS Games Week 5
When going to a break, the Cal Poly announcers, unaware they were on the air, said “another blowout” after Cal Polys first series subsequent to an opening scoring drive by Weber. At least they are honest.

Sam Houston without Schmidt their starting QB.

NDSU-UND was a slobber knocker. Not pretty to watch but NDSU defense made the plays when needed. UND qb made massive mistake when he threw a pass up for grabs at about the NDSU 20 in 3rd quarter. Both teams had only 1 TD.

UND 7 NDSU 6 at half. Game in Grand Forks.

“Ollie” as in “Big C” fight song. Used instead of “Oski” (the golden bear) that Kal uses.

Long-standing traditions seem to fall by the wayside to “new traditions” at which I chuckle at the oxymoronish nature. Cheerleaders used to stand on milk cans and wear denim outfits embracing the “Aggie” tradition but of course that went out of vogue.

that was not on the clip I saw, but yes, the fumble was on 4th down and the play was going nowhere so no practical difference.

Thought Jay Hill’s comments were classy, i.e., no excuses. He hit the nail on the head with turnover margin (their’s season to date) being a big factor. You could see the frustration in his face.

Who’d have thunk in the not too distant past that the Ags would have 2 wins with only 19 and 17 points in an entire season let alone 2 of 4 games. Defense and special teams, particularly punting and turnovers are very key ingredients are what win you the close ones and make more special seasons. In part, a more ball control type of offense oftentimes helps the defense.

I remember seeing Idaho play UOP in Stockton at a band day in the early 70s when I was in a high school band in the same county. Don’t remember who won. Also saw Santa Clara with Dan Pastorini beat Pacific in Stockton at another band day. I think Pacific was in the PCAA then. Not sure about Idaho.

the only case I have seen it called was when a running back receives a screen or swing pass and doesn’t catch it until past the line of scrimmage and there is a blocker in the area impeding a defender. I didn’t know about this rule until the 2019 game in Fargo that I attended. At that game they threw a flag when Tehran Thomas caught a screen pass just past the line of scrimmage and a lineman was engaged with a defender. In that game the flag for offensive PI was picked up and it was explained that the runner caught the ball behind the line of scrimmage, but then then NDSU protested and upon video review it was found that TT was just beyond the LOS when he received the ball. That resulted in a TD being called back.

I agree with aggiefinn - Weber state has the toughest defense the Ags will face. Have not looked at Idaho boards but it seems from the reporting here that some appear to be sniffing glue. That doesn’t mean unexpected things cannot or won’t happen on Saturday.

Re-watched the “controversial swing pass for Weber that got called back for offensive PI. The receiver caught the ball about 1/2 yard past line of scrimmage so call was correct. The announcers said that he was way behind the li
E of scrimmage but I think they either confused the line of scrimmage marker with first down marker or thought the rule was position of receiver when the pass was released be the QB. Roughing the passer call on Weber was ticky-tack. Late PI on Weber in end zone was an example of how these calls are seemingly made these days with most balls “deemed catchable” if the receiver is noticeably impeded. Have wondered about that trend but hard to prove a negative I guess.
