Regarding Savannah, take a walk or a bus tour downtown and check out the waterfront and Forsythe Park, some beautiful homes in the area. Try a Bonaventure Cemetery Tour, lots of pubs and live entertainment downtown, some great local food (strong foodie area)...also get in on a local 'ghost' tour. They'll dress up spooky and walk you around town and tell you all the stories, there are a lot of local aspiring actors, movie production folk and artists (thanks in large part to SCAD, Savannah College of Art and Design, a huge deal in town) so they make it fun.

  • It’s official - Washington fill in the blank pro football franchise
Well, the original name of their mascot was of the Native American type variety, so maybe they pick something a little more mainstream along those lines. I've read a lot of Washington Warriors, but there are those who won't like that, then you get away from NA culture, and there are those who don't like that. Wolves? Warriors? Warbirds? Warhawks? Redhawks? Maybe associating War and D.C. isn't in good taste, but it would be historically accurate...

I'll hit a few places I've been for sporting events, all of them fun in their own ways:

Fenway Park, Boston, MA in 1999 - fantastic place to watch a ballgame, though with COVID it'd be impossible, you are elbow to elbow with everybody and right down on the action.

Providence Park, Portland, OR - it has been newly renovated and with PSU getting kicked out for Timbers games, Davis no longer gets to play downtown against the Vikings. Crazy local fan base, they love the Timbers, and as one might expect, things can get a little bit heated in the crowd.

@ Boise State, great fans, tailgating top notch

@ Oregon, obnoxious fans, but you get to meet a lot of folks who are "famous" in UO and Nike circles, the Duck fanbase is more widespread than most know.

Daytona Speedway, Daytona, FL - a cathedral to racing, it's a total culture going to a NASCAR event. A very long party.

Wrigley Field, Chicago - another surviving tradition of neighborhood ballparks, fiercely loyal and hilarious, fanbase finally got that World Series recently, and Bill Murray cried.

@ Fargodome, North Dakota. A true college town, surrounded by not a ton of humans, but Morehead, MN is right next door. The fan base there is very loyal, and they show up, very friendly place, and cold.

@ Missoula - Montana fanbase has football embedded in their culture, a real way of life, party friendly, visitor friendly, and very spirited.

Baseball Hall of Fame - Cooperstown, NY, like a Field of Dreams reel, very, very pastime nostalgic. Awesome place to visit.

Not sports related, but in travelling around the country I think my favorite city visited was Savannah, GA. Very unique community...a lot of history dating back to the Revolutionary and Civil War times, some amazing stories are out there in the mainstream. Great place for St. Patrick's Day (2nd biggest get together outside of Boston) and Halloween -- Savannah is embedded deep in voodoo country...and they love to dress up and drink, even when there's no real occasion for it, let alone Halloween.
  • No Big Sky football this fall
Looks like "later this fall", not sure if that means October or November or what.
  • Admissions scandal at Berkeley, 3 more UCs
Obviously, the vast, vast majority of students who are admitted get in on merits, aptitudes and abilities. It's just a shame it has to be overshadowed by something so unnecessary. One great thing about UCD, and I don't know the current numbers on this, but last I read UC Davis has the most first time graduates within their family than any other University in America. My Dad was one of those way back in '72.

The announcers at last weeks game kept saying Redskins. Tough when you don't have a mascot.
  • Davis Sport Shop is Closing after 64 Years
That little shop had a lot of the best Aggie gear...hope UCD Bookstore picks up the pace.
  • Forum Cost
Yes, we'll make a run from Thanksgiving to mid-December. Site runs on about $50/month, we try for $600. Locked away for safe use every year...via Paypal
  • Will UCD cut any sports ?
Yeah, you'd think it would. Maybe the coach had a great lawyer read the contract and get some things added in, but good lawd.
  • Admissions scandal at Berkeley, 3 more UCs
Ugh, pats on the back and back alley winks...can't a young person simply get in on their merits and willingness to learn? Geez, the easy way...so stupid. Glad they're uncovering this garbage, and if it's going on at UCD it should be stopped immediately, reprimand those who were involved if so.
  • Article on Darryl Goss
There is nothing that directly affects a prospective college kid more than directly financing their tuition and costs to attend college. Am a big supporter of private scholarships and older graduates supporting and mentoring the incoming classes.
  • Keelan Doss: Raider Watch
Henry Ruggs III left the Carolina game with what looked like a knee injury, thankfully for the Raiders, the speedster was back on the field in the second half.

Injuries happen, Doss just needs to keep grinding, which is exactly what a practice squad player is paid to do: Be ready.
  • Bob Biggs’ Health Issues
Prayers for Bob and family. Always a class guy, and mentally strong. Hoping all signs point to better health, we know he's got great doctors in his corner.
  • No Big Sky football this fall

I was sitting in my truck looking out at the Bay last Saturday at dusk...the weather got really humid, and Thor started cracking down visible bolts all over the place...I was watching in horror...because it has been so dry, you know fires were starting up...all over the place. Two of my jobs were direclty affected, one shut down as the entire mountainside is basically a fuel center, thankfully the other two are free of this mess aside from the smoke.

May you live in interesting times...

Come on vaccine... come on... maybe an Aggie will be key in developing one.

Stay Safe all, football will be back, but not yet.
