  • 2024 Week 8: UC Davis (6-1) @ Eastern Washington (2-4)
    Got the win,
    Got a bye next week,
AND got a number of key players back from injury on both sides of the ball.

Must say we are in a good spot as we approach the final stretch of the season (regular).

    Question for Miles,

Would like to know what he did in the off season in improve his scrambling abilities.

Not saying that he is a significant threat to run with the ball, but I have noticed he has improved on his ability to extend plays and find the open man verse just throwing the ball away.
  • Pac-12 set to add Boise, 3 other MW schools
Regarding a possible move to the FBS. Some quick stats on fan attendance.

Average attendance for all FBS games in 2023 was 42,000.
Average attendance for Pac 12 in 2023 was 49,000.
Average attendance for the Mountain West in 2023 was 24,000.

Average attendance for UC Davis in 2023 was 11,000. FYI, this ranked us 22 out of the 128 programs at the FCS level. To get into the top 10 for the FCS level, we would have to average north of 15,000/game.

With respect to attendance for 2024 we are trending higher (at this point of the season) compared to last year. We will see if that continues for the balance of the season..

    Dwight and Brock,

Do you have an email address for the Podcast that you are willing to share/post.
  • 2024 Week 4: Utah Tech (0-3) @ UC Davis (2-1)
Based on the weather forecast, ticket sales to date, and the fact that going to the game is part of the student dorm orientation, I expect a sell-out crowd (15,000) on Saturday.

Should be a great college football environment to experience.

FYI, the last home game attendance was OK considering the students were not back in school (reported attendance of 8,743).
  • 2024 Week 3: UC Davis (1-1) @ Southern Utah (1-1)
Plough said something that i think makes a whole lot of sense, he said that at this point in the season, you want to gather wins, continue to get better as a team, and play your best football in November and December. Both Texas and Utah are good teams, my guess is that at the end of the season their records will reflect this. Although our wins against these two teams were not dominating, a win is a win. Also, it seems like we are banged up on the D side so if we "heal up" and blow out Utah Tech (like we should), we should be in good position against Idaho and the balance of the Big Sky.

    Another tremendous interview!

Great story about how the players had the ability (and freedom) to improvise on the field to fix the problem with the crowd noise during a game.

This podcast contributes to the excitement around the team and as a result, I believe we will see larger home crowds and more money flowing into the program.
  • 2025 Football Recruiting
The loss of TB and Chuba will hurt but I believe overall, the Ags are much stronger as a result of portal transfers: 1) McWilliams (DB, Cal), 2) Meyer (LB, Cal Poly), 3) Antzaloutus (LB, Cal), 4) Allen (LB, Arizona), 5) Mirabella (OL, San Diego State), 6) Rodriquez (OL, Stony Brook), and 7) Wright (WR, Boise).
  • Looking Ahead to the 2024 Football Season Discussion
LB spot does look light, but do not forget, Porter Conners did get some qualify playing time at LB last year and he looked good in the spring game.
  • Portal Watch (2024)
The news of T.Y. entering the portal shocks me. He gets playing time and has improved his skills as a player over the past few years. Davis is also a guard-happy program so not sure what he is looking for except perhaps the ability to play on a bigger stage.

I would love him to stay in Davis, but I hope for recruiting purposes, we assume he is not coming back. Hopefully, we can find someone that is a better fit for our team.

Overall, I believe Davis has benefited from the inflow of players verse the painful outflow. For this year, current portal transfers into our roster included: Milling, Johnson, Roberson, Tamba, and Rocak. I know Roberson was hurt the entire season, but everyone else were great contributors. The only impact player I can think of that left Davis over the past few years to the portal was Manjon.

Good luck T.Y. to wherever you go (unless you transfer to Sac State and in that case i hope you rot in Hell).
  • Winter Practice Schedule
Watched most of the game last night (came late). In addition to Hastings, looked like Rasor and Harper got into the game at QB. Hastings did not look sharp with his last two possessions ending in INTs and several other passes dropped . . . by defenders. I was hoping to see Hastings with improved footwork and a few more down field throws . . .did not see that. Early days but I believe Miles will be ready by the time the season rolls around.

Good to see Larison NOT in a knee-brace, both him and Perez played in the scrimmage, both looked healthy.

Also nice to see Dixon (former QB) make some catches as a TE.

I thought Porter Conners looked good at LB.

I was curious about our D-line and it was good to seek Kennedy. However, does anyone know what happened to Evan Bearden and Noa Masui?

Did not see several players in the game (hurt?) including Tompkins, Fisher, and Budget

In addition to a spring roster, my only feedback to the atmosphere is that it would have been nice to have a game announcer (like a regular game) instead of the constant sideline chatter. At least with the announcer, we would know who was making plays.
