Exactly. Spencer's game was entirely too predictable because he wasn't a passing threat. When he came in the game, opponents knew that it was going to be a keeper. Wildcat only works if you can at least threaten to throw it or else opponents just zero in.

I think with the emergence of a run game with Gilliam and Thomas plus the fact that Spencer's passing wasn't reliable enough to make the wildcat a consistently effective option buried him on the depth chart. He seems like a good kid, but the throws just weren't cutting it from what I have observed over his time with the team. I don't know anything about injuries regarding him.

So perfect for trick plays. He's not unlike Orlando Ornelas in our current recruiting class. We recruited him as a WR and he is playing QB his senior year.

Yeah Crawford played QB in HS.

Not to mention that he has 75 tackles on the season too... on one of the best teams in the state.

I said it in another thread that we don't want to count our chickens before they hatch, but 9-2 is very realistic and 10-1 isn't outside the realm of possibility. I thought going into this season that we'd be improved and maybe at best be like 7-4. This season has been absolutely amazing.

Want to know what gave me a chuckle? There is a thread on Montana's fan forum right now comparing Maier and Sneed... and there is some guy arguing that Sneed is the better QB and would have beaten Maier for the starting spot if they were in the same camp :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

I think KSU is a good team, but to say their strength of schedule has been weak is an understatement. Massey has their SoS ranked at 89th... ours for example is 9th. I think people see the eye popping scores and think "they must be good" but they are playing consistently the worst teams in FCS.

I would be okay playing anyone in that quarter bracket to be honest. Only problem is that we could be looking at NDSU in the semi's.

With Cookus having been out for basically the entire season they've been playing 2 different QB's... Daniel Bridge-Gadd and Gino Campiotti neither of which have been very good. They have been relying heavily on the run for the last couple games as a result of the QB play. I haven't heard any news if there is a chance Cookus returns this season.

EDIT: Apparent Bridge-Gadd went down with a undisclosed knee injury, so now they just have Campiotti

I will admit... I am jealous as hell of Montana's atmosphere and fan base. Don't get me wrong, I love our Aggie fanatics but I would love for us to someday to be able to pack a 20k+ stadium and have the crowd play games with the opponents.

Northern Arizona comes into this battle with a record of 3-5 and most recently a loss to Cal Poly. Over the last 2 games their passing attack that was famous with Cookus and Butler has all but disappeared given injuries. They had just 62 yards of passing against CP and 132 against Northern Colorado. They have stepped up their rushing attack though gaining 356 and 204 in those games respectively. We've struggled with NAU in the pass so we can't take them for granted, but this looks like a very winnable game with how our boys have been playing.
