Graff is having a rough go of it here to start the game. Utah Tech so far has looked like a team that has struggled this season.

Wow Scott Marsh just said the Aggies are 5/14 for TDs in the red zone on the season. Woof.

Red zone offense comes up short. Recurring theme of the season, Aggies up 9-0.

Still VERY early in the game, but that would be a huge upset if the Griz dropped this one at home

    Utah Tech Game Notes

QB depth chart is listed as Hill OR MacPhail OR Graff so I'm assuming that we are going to be seeing all 3 QBs this weekend. This is updated from their NAU game notes that strictly listed Hill as the starter. Their QBs definitely have different skill sets that may warrant being on the field, but I think this is more an indictment of their general QB play this year. None of them have stood out as THE guy.

Honestly guys, very good work. I have come to look forward to the weekly podcast drop. I'm just hoping that we can have a turnover free game. While Miles has passing yards to his name, his overall passing efficiency and interceptions are a problem. From the same stats tracker his passing efficiency is middling (ranked #54) and through 97 ranked players is tied for most interceptions thrown.

I'll try to keep this thread about this game, but I think that if there are any real talks about a move up than Rocko will be keeping it pretty close to the chest until something more concrete materializes. That would be pretty cool if you guys got some sort of breaking news from him though!

The name change from Dixie State to Utah Tech was specifically to get rid of the "Dixie" moniker due it's ties to the Confederacy. I mean, their mascot used to be the Rebels as well. Now I don't know the specifics in terms of the history of the school, but I at least understand the name change in this day and age.

And you are correct, we can't be looking by this game because anything can happen during Saturday college football. I don't think Eastern Washington was expecting to lose to Drake for instance. Hopefully Plough will have the guys ready to go and we don't sustain any more injuries. We've already been sort of beat up and we've yet to get to the meat of the schedule.

    Things I liked
    - Lan Larison continues to show why he's going to go down as an Aggie legend. 88 net rushing yards, 92 receiving yards, and the TD to put us up in the 3rd quarter.
    - Miles Hastings' completion percentage was much better than it was coming into the game. I criticize MH a lot, but I try to be objective about it so I will at least give him that he was more efficient today.
    - Team defense only gave up 14 points to a team that dropped 27 on a (really bad) FBS team last week. They held their key player, Lambson, to less yards on more carries than UTEP did as well.
    - Hunter Ridley has been money the last 2 games.
    - No real special teams errors that I can think of off the top of my head.

    Things I didn't like
    - There's no way getting around talking about the pick 6. Plough trying to use the shadows on the field as an excuse, but we all know and see it that Miles rarely looks past his first read. He almost threw a 2nd pick 6 on basically the same play in the same area of the field. Big Sky DBs are licking their chops knowing that they will be able to jump routes when they see Miles looking at their side of the field.
    - The defense has been beat up with injuries and were getting gassed by the end of the game, but there at the end of the 3rd quarter and into the 4th quarter the tackling looked pretty rough. That hasn't been a consistent problem this season, but I didn't like seeing so many broken tackles at the end of the game.
    - Continued question marks about just getting the ball into the end zone. Just 1 TD from within the red zone. We can't rely on FGs and 60 yard TDs to win games once conference play starts.

A win is a win! Go Ags! Bring on the Trailblazers!
