I agree with DA and would be surprised if Ingrassia wasn't a RS this upcoming season. That being said the QB situation is obviously very open right now so I'm excited to see who steps up. We can't have another season where the top 2 QBs have more interceptions than passing TDs.
I think TT is an awesome player. His ability in both designed runs and scrambling is unparalleled amongst the quarterbacks on the roster, but from what I saw on the few passing attempts he got last season, he needs to develop his ability to really stay in the pocket and find his receivers otherwise the gimmick gets stale.
Could be a wide variety of reasons why he didn't see the field more often, but I am going to remain hopeful that he can be an impact player for us. Like you mentioned, he's still young and has time to develop.
HUGE addition to the roster! Boise State safety, Semaj Verner, is transferring to Davis! Had 19 offers coming out of high school including: Arizona State, Colorado, Oregon, UCLA, USC!
Yeah, I'm not asking for anything close to what UF provides but a basic livestream and then uploading the recording on YouTube is something that kids can do these days. It's really sad that we provide zero opportunity to watch something that should be easily accessible.
UF had their spring game on ESPN, YouTube, Hulu, SEC Network, etc. There's no reason that we couldn't have had a stream on the athletics website or on YouTube. This is technology that is not even remotely new or inaccessible... Just laziness on the part of our athletics department.
Agreed. I happen to live on the east coast and would have loved the opportunity to watch it. I know it's obviously a big difference in terms of popularity and budget of organization, but I live pretty dang close to the University of Florida and their spring game was a big freakin' deal. There were various options to watch on app and TV channel.
I think our linebackers will be the strength of our defense. Looks like quite a bit of talent there. Gonna need the defensive line to step up and get more consistent pressure to help out our DBs especially now that Perryman transferred.
The QB battle will be something to watch again for this upcoming season. It's no secret that our QB play last season was... uninspiring. Will Hastings or Tompkins (or another guy already on the roster) take a step forward or is Hawk hoping that Newman can pull a Maier?
Gilliam is listed on the roster, which is huge. Getting our 2 headed monster of Gilliam/Larison back will help take pressure off of whoever ends up slinging the ball.
I would probably feel differently if I was born and raised there, but I lived in Tennessee for just a short time while I was working on my doctorate and while cost of living was nice, I honestly couldn't wait to get the heck out of there. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.
Yeah I watched his highlights and he definitely has the yards after catch threat. Both Kraut and Pickett have nice size to play on the outside at the very least.
I don't see why they wouldn't. Similarly to the quarterback position, this last season we didn't really have THE GUY that was regularly getting open for us. Our top returning WR in terms of yards is Hutton who had just over 300 yards. I think Hutton is a talented slot receiver, but we need guys on the outside who can vertically stretch the field.
The video highlight on twitter had him listed as ATH, but the press release has him listed at WR. He was listed as a DB for Arizona. Seems like a versatile athlete in general.
Gotcha, gotcha. Dan is a smart guy. I believe that he will, to the best of his ability, put us in a situation to win as many games as possible and that means picking the right guy for the job. I'm not sure we had a right guy for the job in general last season and we did the best we could and still made it to the playoffs. Guys will have another year of development under their belts and some fresh faces are in the mix. Hopefully someone can just grab the job and make it theirs.
I was typing up some questions just as you responded. Did he happen to speak to the ensuing QB competition? Seems like it's going to be open competition, but at the same time specifically bringing in a JC guy has to indicate that they weren't 100% with what they got out of guys last season. I don't think he's automatically crowned the starter or anything, but it does feel reminiscent of when we brought in Maier (I'm not comparing Newman to Maier, just the situation).
