Idaho is definitely benefitting from having a competent coach at the helm as well as a rising star QB in McCoy to lead what should be a vicious passing attack with Jackson and Hatten, but to a certain degree I feel like they are currently overrated despite being a playoff team last year. I see them as top 15, not necessarily top 10 or better that some polls have them in. That's not to say that they won't continue to improve and could be very good this year. In fact, if they can keep the coaching staff together then they could push to become a FCS powerhouse with the resources they have. They have a tough schedule with 2 FBS (even if Nevada was very bad last season), both Montanas, Sac and Weber (both have new coaches and player turnover). They could end up in a situation similar to us like last season where we were likely better than a handful of teams that made the playoffs, but the record simply wouldn't get us in.
  • It's now the Pac-4 where will Cal and Stanford go?
I saw some folks online just calling for a California conference. The implosion of the Pac 12 could have a huge impact on the future of west coast football.

It's pretty bad. For reference, this is what SJSU is sending out as their official offer graphic in comparison to ours.

Kids post all kinds of pictures in regards to offers. Most post pictures when they receive verbal offers and they either make those themselves or get them from private graphic design stores online. A dead period just ended so schools were sending out "official" offers as opposed to just the verbal offers and this is the pic that came with ours. Pretty much all schools do the same thing.

That is the official image being sent to the players from the team. A lot of the guys who we already knew had offers are posting the same one. Whoever created the picture certainly made some choices... not sure if good ones, but choices nonetheless.

Maybe I'm just misremembering, but this feels like the first time in awhile that the coaches have ranked us higher than the media.

I'll be honest and say that 3 stars means very little in predicting success. I only include it because it is simply a rating that is available, but the star system doesn't mean a whole lot until talking about the 4 and 5 star players and even then the system is far from perfect.

  • 2023 Preseason FCS Football Polls
Idaho had a good season under a new head coach, made the playoffs, and have a young QB that was clearly a standout this last season but I'm with you in that I'm not sure they are top 5... yet.
