  • Campbell shocks college recruiting
No, I am not saying all of these ranked athletes weren't academically qualified. I am saying I bet most were not qualified for many D1 schools at this time. Either they didn't have all the coursework completed in high school, high enough SAT or ACT scores, or high enough GPA. I am thinking many of them didn't
qualify for many of the school's academic requirements so they chose this school, as they could get accepted there, and satisfy the requirements to move on next year.

I would bet that if they can get the grades they will leave in a heartbeat!

This would explain why these athletes were still available.

How many are academically qualified to get into a UC?

My guess at best is only a few if any.

Being there are so many in the portal the Ags may be saving their schollies for February and get some BCS caliber players left without a team.
  • Rolf Benirschke to be added to wall of fame
I remember winning 2 bets from the same guy in Chico. Rolfe came in to attempt a 47 yard fg. I had never seen him miss. So, I bet him a single beer would make it. That was all he would bet. He made it for a Far West record. Later he came in for a 49 yarder, and he bet 12 beers he had left. I said sure, he doesn't miss. Rolfe made that one too. So, he lost his beers. I passed them around to my neighbors.
Thanks Rolfe. I never had the opportunity to thank you until now.
  • Week 11: Eastern Washington @ Davis
Put the pressure on EB from the right side forcing him to run left. This cuts his field to throw into by at least 50 percent. It is hard for a rightly to throw back to his right while running left. If he makes such a throw he risks throwing a duck. You must contain him so he cannot run back to his right side.
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ Idaho State
Yes Toke. The aggie offense needs to make their d line cover too many options. This should slow them down a little
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ Idaho State
:yum: I'd play Hastings and TT at wr. Have him doing jet sweep with option for Miles to pass or hand to T T with option to psss. This makes it harder for the defense to stack the middle to stop interior rushes with Gilliam.
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ Idaho State
Yes, I believe they started with a 3 -4 but, on the Dolphins first drive they scored a TD. The niners then went to the 4-3 for the rest of the game.

I am also confused about EWU. They have a great offense, but as they say defense wins games. Marino went up against the 49ers after one of the best years a quarterback every had, but lost big to the niners. So, there is something about defense that most offenses cannot overcome. EWU does seem weak against the ground game. So, I am thinking with 2 QBs who can run the ball (Crawford and Tomkins) on the field at the same time, makes their defense need to stay awake and at home. That gives Gilliam some extra room to run. If their D Backs come forward to stop the run, we could have receivers wide open for the two QBs. This is a situation I do not believe EWU has ever faced. And, both QBs can also catch the ball. So, you cannot leave either alone. I could see Gilliam having a big day after a few set of downs of Crawford and Tomkins.
We'll see. I could be wrong. But, when you offer more opportunities to strike the more careful the defense has to be to stay home and contain.
It'll be interesting to say the least.
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ Idaho State
Well, if we disreard the scoring average we must also disregard the defense portions also of those games too. Which when I did disregard those two games altogether, our offense and defense won the 4th quarters. So, the team and the coaching gave us the opportunityto win all the games. Which we did. That is a sign of a good team.
I think sometimes stats do not tell the whole story. Why? They most likely played some softer teams than we did. Tulsa- OK State #12 beat Tulsa by 5, Idaho- very tough to tell one way or the other, Weber also tough to tell as they played JMU and lost. But they scored after the game had been decided. And, Utah scored big to beat Weber. Leaving it also tough to tell how good they are.
But, we are 5-0 and they are 2-3. And, do not not believe Weber is a bad team or is Idaho by any means.
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ Idaho State
Well, we are scoring 35 points/game compared to 17 for the other side. This also says something about this team. They create scoring situations and FOLLOW through on them. That means our defense gets tough in the red zone. Also, Dixie State, one of the weaker teams we played scored 27 points. That is more than any of the other teams we played. And, all four were supposedly better teams.
This just says to me we were so far ahead, and Hawkins is not one to rub this in, so they probably played a softer defense scheme.
There is much beyond offensive statistics. The coach seems to put the Aggies in a position to win.
And fortunately, our players execute this just fine. So, credit the players for excelling and palying tough in crunch time.
  • How do we beat EWU, JMU, NDSU
I actually think TT would open more holes in their poor defense.. Aggles would have longer possessions and thus a shorter amount of time on the field for EWU's offense. I am not sure their defense has played against a QB like him.
  • Week 4: UC Davis @ Weber State
Dr.Mike, Question if the wr crosses the LOS and then comes back behind the LOS does that make it a legal or illegal block? It does appear he crossed the LOS and came back.
  • Week 4: UC Davis @ Weber State
I think the QB was throwing the ball away after he saw his receiver was taken down. That is more than defensive holding, hence a PI
  • Week 3: Dixie State at UC Davis
Need to throw more to loosen up their dee
  • Week 3: Dixie State at UC Davis
Tulsa is #64. What's that? and Florida State is #133 NDSU #150 ? huh Jacksonville St #155
