I don't know how much Vaughn actually developed Biagini, given his short tenure as an Aggie, but Gamboa for sure.

When I watch Charlie Strong interviews, I can't help but hear Coach Gould. Well liked by his players, highly respected as a man, but disappointing results on the field and a swift end to his season. Coach Strong gets $10 million as a buy-out though. I wonder if he will look for another job soon...

Those are valid points. Having NFL ties is a plus, I think, and, speaking of the NFL, the Biggs/Mo years had a good number of NFL products for a D2 program... more than in recent (D1) Aggie history. I don't put much stock in the W/L record of a program that just graduated its first seniors. They beat Southern Oregon and have had some good wins. That said, Hawkins, who ran Colorado into the ground in his last head coaching job (6 years ago), should be in the conversation, too. I'm just brainstorming guys who would best fit the criteria laid out by Blue and summarized so well by aggie6thman on another post.

Is the game on TV or how are you watching it?

Well as an Aggie, a former NFL quarterback, longtime (very successful) offensive coordinator at Davis, and now a guy who started a program from scratch albeit at an NAIA school, he certainly should be in the conversation.

I don't know how much authority Daft had over the play calling or offensive system/schemes. I'm simply pointing out that, on paper, he has strong Davis roots and a more significant resume than others who are being mentioned.

Weber State did a great job adjusting to our pressure defense. When you send two people to trap the ball so high on screens, it inevitably leaves you vulnerable to smart teams who can move the ball and knock down shots, which Weber State did routinely after the first 10 minutes. We are going to be inconsistent offensively, it appears, but most teams we play will not be as good as Weber State, who returns four starters from a tournament team last year. They were simply better than we were and especially so last night when they had hot shooters. Hopefully we bounce back today!

No coordination or head coaching experience scares me. He's got significantly less experience than Daft, whose name hasn't come up but who at least deserves some consideration if we are going to go young.

Hawkins was last on a campus recruiting high school kids in 2010. It's hard to imagine he could hit the ground running on that front, particularly in this area/CA. I'm not convinced he's our best option. I hope they at least talk to Moroski and Johnson, but I have no idea if they would want to return after how they were passed over by Tumey and discarded by Gould.

It's bad when the only offensive rebound I can remember was the one by Funtarov, who has only played a few minutes.

We are going to have to score. Missing layups and not shooting 3s isn't going to close the gap.

The Ags played well, aside from the 4 minute stretch when Weber State went on their run. We weren't attacking the rim as much, and we actually haven't been shooting as many 3s as I would have expected from a Les team. Henn is a beast, as is Moneke, though they are on the shorter end of the spectrum. JT has been too passive offensively - he is better than he is showing. Brynton is playing well, creating offense. Funtarov gave a good spark, as well!

Our man defense looked really good early on, and our bigs show on high screens as aggressively as you'll see. The rotations broke down during our bad stretch, however.

Overall, I like our squad and I'm impressed with who/what Les and Co. have put together.

I'm not saying there's a place for insight and incisive questions/commentary; I'm just saying that I've never expected that from Bruce. I expect him to write warm, fuzzy stories about the local sports scene, weaving in personal anecdotes and historical references. Personally, I'm okay with that. Having someone from AST get press credentials, which it sounds like is in the works, would fill that more analytical/critical role, and I think we're all looking forward to that.

I don't think a good writer must be objective, unless he claims to be objective. Bruce unabashedly weaves his personal feelings in his work, which makes him a "homer" but not a hack. He is eternally optimistic, focuses on the positive, and loves the hometown aspect of the Enterprise. It drives the analytical types crazy, but others eat it up, knowing that he is not entirely (or even mostly) objective.
