  • USC looking to get out of 2021 game
If USC pays UC Davis $750,000 I would think that would be a great thing for Davis. UC Davis could attract a great FCS team to play in Davis for $250,000 or less and pocket $500,000 or more. Nice check in the bank, a more manageable and playoff friendly schedule and one more home game for Aggie fans.
  • Aggies have a new Defensive Coordinator???
Both coaches might of accepted a job at another school and it has not been announced yet.

Aristotle Thompson was retained by Beau Baldwin and then excepted a job with Cal. Cal announced it earlier this week. Cal Poly has not. Aristotle is still listed as a coach at GoPoly.com.
  • Aggies have a new Defensive Coordinator???
UC Davis (FCS): Source tells FootballScoop Kansas defensive quality control Chidera Uzo-Diribe has been offered and is expected to accept the defensive line job at Davis.
  • Cal Poly’s Tim Walsh retires
Cal Poly adds Walter Payton winner Eric Meyer to coach QBs (was Offensive Analysts at Cal) and former Buck Buchanan winner JC Sherritt to coach LBs (was LB coach for Calgary). Retain Josh Letuligasenoa as a defensive assistant.
  • Cal Poly’s Tim Walsh retires
I believe the success that UC Davis had last season and the success Sac State had this season was the tide that helped raise Cal Poly’s ship. I think more than just the coaching staff has changed at Cal Poly. I think the administration finally went all in and are giving the new coach the resources to be successful.
  • Cal Poly’s Tim Walsh retires
Cal Poly press conference to announce new Head Football coach is scheduled for Wednesday at 5:00 pm.
  • Cal Poly’s Tim Walsh retires
Davis took a step back this year, but they were most definitely one of the top FCS teams in 2018. They were about 30 seconds from beating an EWU team that played in the FCS National Championship game.
  • Cal Poly’s Tim Walsh retires
I think Baldwin is also on thin ice at Cal. He is in the last year of his contract and Cal’s offense has struggled.

I think this would be a home run hire for Cal Poly. He has 5 Big Sky Championships and a FCS National Championship on his resume.

It would be great to see all three California teams rise to the top of the Big Sky. Davis and Sac have under Hawkins and Taylor. Now let’s hope Cal Poly can get there with Baldwin.
  • Cal Poly’s Tim Walsh retires
    From FootballScoop.com:

Barring a late-stage break down in talks, Beau Baldwin is expected to be the next head coach at Cal Poly, sources told FootballScoop on Monday.

Sources told FootballScoop no signatures are in place at this time, but both sides anticipate a deal getting done.

Baldwin is currently the assistant head coach, offensive coordinator and running backs coach at Cal, a job he has held for the past three years.

Prior to that, Baldwin was the head coach at Eastern Washington — a Big Sky Conference rival of Cal Poly — from 2008-16. He went 85-32 with five Big Sky titles, six FCS playoff berths and a national championship in 2010. He was also the head coach at Central Washington in 2007, going 10-3 with a trip to the Division II quarterfinals.
  • Cal Poly’s Tim Walsh retires
    Per FootballScoop:

Cal Poly (FCS): Sources tell FootballScoop Cal Poly is pursuing Oregon running backs / run game coordinator Jim Mastro to be their next head coach. Mastro played at Cal Poly and got his start in coaching there as well, spending nearly a decade on the staff before moving on to Idaho, Nevada, UCLA, Washington State and now Oregon. Given the success Oregon’s offense has had, it seems hard to think Mario Cristobal would make it easy for Mastro to leave. Will update as more is clear.
  • Petersen steps down at UW
He actually stepped down at Washington to clear the way to become the next Head Coach at Cal Poly. ;)
  • Cal Poly’s Tim Walsh retires
Saga’s 2 years as OC at Cal Poly the offense averaged 34 points and 480 yard of offense a game. His offense had no resemblance to the offense the last 3 years.

Compare that to Davis the last two years:

    2019: 29 points and 344 yards.

    2018: 40 points and 516 yards.
  • Cal Poly’s Tim Walsh retires
I was a huge Ellerson fan, but other than maybe having him back to run the defense, I would rather go in a different direction.

Saga Tuitele spent 7 years at Cal Poly as OL coach and OC for 2 years. He spent the past 4 years at New Mexico as OL/run game coordinator. Davies was let go yesterday so he is most likely looking for a job. Would be a good choice if they wanted to continue to run the triple option.
  • Cal Poly’s Tim Walsh retires
Someone mention trying to pull Kris Richardson from Troy Taylor’s Sac State staff to run the spread. Only one year college coaching experience, but it might work.
  • Cal Poly’s Tim Walsh retires
I think the success of UC Davis last season and Sac State this season gives Cal Poly fans hope that we can turn it around quickly IF we hire the right coach
  • Week 12 games of note
3 back to back Buchanan winners. Beck (3rd round Atlanta), Gocong (3rd round Philadelphia) and Shotwell (FA Oakland). Those were the days.
  • Week 12 games of note
Unfortunately they did leave with Ellerson. One year the defense under Ellerson had 50 sacks (Gocong had 23.5) and 25 INTs. We now don’t get to double digits in sacks or INTs
  • Week 12 games of note
EWU’s defense is not great, but Cal Poly’s offense is not bad. Cal Poly’s defense on the other hand is next to non existent. EWU scored 42 points in 16:33 minutes of possession.
  • Week 12 games of note
Cal Poly down 42-41 misses a 35 yard FG against EWU with 1 minute left. Lose 42-41. Cal Poly’s season in one play.
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
Weber State, Montana State and Sac State would all be quality wins. I think by the end of the year we may find that Sac State might be the toughest. They always have had good athletes. The difference this season is they now have good coaching to get the most out of those athletes.
