  • Week 3: UC Davis @ Portland State
First punt was a quick kick. Was 4 and short, looked like we were going for it and he kicked. Second one was pretty obvious we weren't going for it. By they couldn't put anyone back else you are defenders and we might have run a play. Nice wrinkle. Memories of Sammy Baugh

Long time since we thoroughly out coached a good team. And the kids played very well. Very few mistakes, a ton of big plays by many different guys. That was big. Reminds me of that 44-0 beating at Montana state about 10 years ago. Even a TD pass to a fullback on a play out of the Sochor playbook. Build on this one
  • Big Sky 9/16
Looking at box score offense wasn't too impressive on either side despite score. Weber had 280 yards sac a little over 200. Each had a pick six

game is viewable on something called Pluto TV; there's a free App.

    Pluto TV

i still think its messed up that they decided Pluto isn't a planet. see if anyone else is a fan of 'Psych'.
  • Week 3: UC Davis @ Portland State
yep; i remember him dressed all in black at Aggie Stadium. we're 4-10 vs. PSU, 3-0 vs Glanville.
  • Week 3: UC Davis @ Portland State
we have lost the last 4 games vs. PSU. we last beat the Vikings in 2009, for the third time in a row (2007-2009). anyone remember who the Viking head coach was during that stretch?
  • Week 3: UC Davis @ Portland State
i think the key is to make their young QB uncomfortable. he's a talented guy, so if he has time and/or easy reads, they are going to be tough to stop. their DB's are really good. they shut down BYU's pass game completely.
  • Week 2: University of San Diego @ UC Davis
i don't think you'll see Doss getting a cushion this week. DB's, especially the corners, are the strength of their D. they completely shut down BYU's receivers (i didn't see the Oregon State game). Our passing game is different than BYU, and Doss is pretty darn good, but its going to be a challange for our WR's to get open. we'll have to be creative to create space for them, or backs on the edge (they opened things up in the 2nd half last week).
  • Aggie Stadium
Oh yeah, beer in the snack bar area that was selling buckhorn. That's right behind our seats. Service is still slower than my 40 time (I was slow). Hopefully they work out the bugs. They had nonstudents working register and beer tap so hopefully they work out the bugs
  • Week 2: University of San Diego @ UC Davis
Biggest crowd for home opener since 9/17/2011 vs San Diego third week of season. Good sign with plenty of room to improve
  • Week 2: University of San Diego @ UC Davis
By the way attendence was around 6800. 1000-1500 better than last two years
  • Week 2: University of San Diego @ UC Davis
I believe he meant big plays especially when they had us in a hole. We converted a 3rd and 16 on a screen on the td drive before the half. William's long run. Doss' long pass in a 3rd and long from deep in our end. That screwy pass up for grabs on a 4th down. Long punt return when they seemed to have it well covered. Game sure felt closer than
    35-7.
  • Week 2: University of San Diego @ UC Davis
USD was blitzing one or two LB's up the middle almost every down which took away the dive. It dig expose the edges which we exploited in second half with flare passes and screens. Maier never pulled back the dive and run to the edge which should have been open. If we can add that a few times a game it should open up the run game. Passing game lols imaginative. We use the seams wel. I would had liked to see more pressure on their qb and a few times where a DL blew up a running play. DB's played well but PSU will be a much tougher challenge.

Work in progress. We're aggressive out there which is a nice thing to see. Physical also. Tough stretch coming up here the next four weeks
  • Aggie Stadium
looks good. i like the blue signage around the field. softens the gray concrete. scoreboard looks great. really looking forward to seeing it in person tomorrow.
  • Aggie Stadium
instruction begins September 27, so move-in weekend is the 23rd. don't expect a large showing of students out there. I'll be there, with a full box, so we're doing our part to fill the west side. Football alum game, free-tickets to ex-players, so that should draw some more. staff appreciation and kids day. i'm expecting a better than average (compared to recent years) attendence, especially if the weather cooperates.
  • Aggie Stadium
    wow....signage. muscle milk, aquafina.

i noticed at the last scrimmage that the old 'Aggie Pride' donor board was down. i wonder if they are putting up a new one. that one dates back about 7 years, and i know we had some new significant donors added to the list this year.
  • We're Finally Getting A Weekly Coaches Show!
i like that they gave the kids a chance to talk -> just highlights the quality students we have out there to root for. last week, i was talking to some staff and ex-staff about the exposure the university got from the NCAA appearance, and that was something that we all agreed upon -> aggie athletes really shine when they get on camera. well-spoken, intelligent, and have a real appreciation of being part of the campus. that came out last night during the coach's show. I liked Hawk's background story on Modise and his journey here. Kid worked at SFO from 10:00 PM to 3:00 AM to support himself, and was a good student and outstanding player. That's someone I can cheer for, on and off the field
  • Week 2: University of San Diego @ UC Davis
last two games were the biggest margins (38-24 down there in 2010, and 31-3 here in 2011). we've always been able to score points against them. the loss down there was a very depressing night. played a lazy game and they took advantage of our mistakes and made many good plays. the results ALMOST ruined our trip to San Diego. ALMOST.
  • Week 2: University of San Diego @ UC Davis
more like exploding. he was more hot-headed on the sidelines back then.

speaking of sidelines, prowling the USD sidelines that day was Marshawn Lynch -> Josh Johnson's cousin.
