we won't announce preferred walk-ons, only scholarship guys. kids can
'commit' via social media, of course. might be interesting to see a roster to see if we had some 'unpreferred walk-offs' after the big signing and quick integration of new players. i'm guessing we do the same thing of last year with combinations of grants/athletic scholarships to get a bigger than expected class.
  • MBB 4 pm Saturday: Aggies (15-7 & 6-2) @ Long Beach State (12-13 & 6-3)
It seems like he needs a couple of easy buckets to loosen up and get some confidence. Free throw shooting is a great sign especially in a game like that

Goode gets better and better. Reminds me more and more of JT. Onybalu’s contributions have been under the radar all season. Does the little stuff winning teams need that often goes unnoticed.

Anyone going to the signing party on Wednesday? I plan to make the drive up if I can get out of work by 3:00.
  • Chima Moneke Suspended Indefinitely
He did retweet the game winner. Maybe there is hope this is a short suspendion
  • MBB 4 pm Saturday: Aggies (15-7 & 6-2) @ Long Beach State (12-13 & 6-3)
Unreal game. Thought the beach was going to run away with it in second half when they opened fast. But this group grinds. Huge effort

If it’s not a country song I probably don’t know it
  • Chima Moneke Suspended Indefinitely
This answers the question I had when I looked at the game feed on ESPN: ‘No Chima?’
  • MBB 7 pm Thursday: Aggies (14-7 & 5-2) @ (5-16 & 2-5)
Hate to admit it, but trolled his twitter and no clues there. Last basketball related tweet was a positive post Xmas message
  • MBB 7 pm Thursday: Aggies (14-7 & 5-2) @ (5-16 & 2-5)
3 point shooting wasn’t great (23%) and only 70% from the line ( several misses on front end of one-and-ones). A couple more 3’s and hit a couple of those front end FT’s and this would have been an easy win. 6 turnovers. That must be a season low.

Was hoping John’s hot hand last week would carry over but not so much. Mooney had one of his best games. Any Jackson sighting?

Needed that one. On to the beach. Let’s sweep them!
  • 2018 schedule released
at the beginning of last year, we were wringing our hands about the schedule. then North Dakota and Portland went south, and it got much more reasonable.

i do wish we didn't have Stanford. that's a meat grinder kind of game. i remember talking to a line coach at the golf tournament the year after the last Stanford game, and he thought that game left a physical toll on the linemen (especially defense) that lasted several weeks. having a bye two weeks later will certainly help. just hope it doesn't effect them too much vs. Idaho -> a definite winnable home game.

San Jose is still FBS, but that's a winnable game. San Diego is no slouch (right NAU?), especially after seeing us last year. that being said, we COULD be 3-1 heading into the bye week with a winnable roadie at UNC coming up. think positive!
  • MBB 5 pm Saturday Game 2 of DH: Cal Poly (6-14 & 1-5) @ the Aggies (13-7 & 4-2)
My mistake. Berry did play 10 games that 11-19 year along with Monson. Drop off a little more surpringing in retrospect
  • MBB 5 pm Saturday Game 2 of DH: Cal Poly (6-14 & 1-5) @ the Aggies (13-7 & 4-2)
Berry played 10 games averaging around 10 a game. Got hurt late in pre conference and never returned. I saw him vs Air Force during Xmas break. Nice touch, good passer. Would have liked to see his height wander into the key more, but would have helped us
  • MBB 5 pm Saturday Game 2 of DH: Cal Poly (6-14 & 1-5) @ the Aggies (13-7 & 4-2)
Nolan Berry was a transfer from Bradley. Close to 7 foot with a nice outside touch. Hurt his knee and missed most of his first season of eligibility with us, then transferred out.

Walton was a guard from Ohio. A Hawkins-style player. Redshirted then transferred out.
  • MBB 7 pm Thursday: CSUN (5-14 & 2-3) @ the Aggies (12-7 & 3-2)
just what the downtown traffic needs! a 15-person party bike!
  • 2018 schedule released
San Jose State is now Thursday Aug 30, kickoff time TBD. Similar to a few years ago when we opened at Reno the Thursday before Labor Day weekend.
  • MBB 5 pm Saturday Game 2 of DH: Cal Poly (6-14 & 1-5) @ the Aggies (13-7 & 4-2)
on the drive home Saturday, my wife and I were talking about the current state of basketball. in the last 4 years, we have a league title, a conference tourney title (and NCAA berth), and we could get to the 20 win plateau again and compete for the titles again this season. pretty sweet times! we had the hiccup after the league title, but not too surprising since we graduated 4 and lost 3 possible standouts (Berry and Walton transferred, Monson to graduate school). Add in the 19-straight home wins, and the fact that we continue to put quality young men out on the court, and its a great time to be a fan!

Les spoke to the alum/Team Aggie up in the reception area, and was very excited about the current state of the program and where we are headed. He sure gives the impression that this is the place he wants to be now, and in the future. He mentioned that folks (airport personnel, hotel and restuarant staff) routinely mention how polite this group is. GPA is up. All great things to hear for donors! The 2016-17 highlight video that they showed are really well done.

By the way, Berry ended up at a D2 school (Marysville in St. Louis) where he's going off at about 20 ppg. Walton ended up at Longwood (D1 Big South) where he is leading his team with 18.5 ppg. Monson? BYU School of Law.
