  • WEEK 8: AGGIES @ THUNDERBIRDS
How about Brad Sorenson-Tyson Poofs combination? i swear those guys KILLED us in the 2010 era! they had back-to-back years of putting up 55 points on us, one time of a wet, miserable night at Aggie Stadium!
  • WEEK 8: AGGIES @ THUNDERBIRDS
based on their record (1-6 with a win over a one-win S.F. Austin) and some of their loses, we should be strong favorites. 14 points on the road. yeah, i wouldn't put the pension on that! we've not been a sure bet when its come to the point spreads this year!

SUU has been giving up alot of yards on the ground. if we can get our run game going, like in the 1st half Saturday v. Poly, i think we can put up alot of points. they haven't shown the ability to score much. but, a fall evening in Eakles Colisseum gives me a bit of a pause!
  • WEEK 8: AGGIES @ THUNDERBIRDS
14 point favorite, similar to last week. I’d be feeling better about this game if it were an afternoon kickoff. Forecast is decent (high of 65, low of 29), but could be pretty chilly in the 4th. Need a fast start
  • 2019 BATTLE FOR THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE
the minimum requirements at Poly are the same as Sac -> both CSU's. question is does either school require more than the minimum for their student athletes. but, if you qualify at Sac (Fresno, San Jose, etc), you qualify at Poly. harder to get into Poly for a student, but same minimum qualifications.

UC's have a higher minimum standard than the CSU's. again, question is do we take kids who only meet the minimum (basically a 3.0 in the 'core classes') or require more.
  • Keelan Doss: Raider Watch
He was at the game Saturday night. Saw him standing near the stadium club resplendent in his white Raiders jersey!
  • WEEK 8: AGGIES @ THUNDERBIRDS
no; in shorts and tee shirt.
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ North Dakota
    The podcast is clear
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ North Dakota
Really need the run game to step up. Their pass defense has been very good and are racking up the sacks (might be skewed by Drake game and EWU blizzard). If we’re one dimensional, we might struggle to score. Defense? Pressure on the QB. He’s had some problems with turnovers in the past, let’s add to those tomorrow
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ North Dakota
It is blondies. I think Woodstock shows games but this is the program’s official location
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ North Dakota
looks like there is a new location for the football watch parties. Parkside Bar and Lounge will host this saturday's game and all future 'official' watch parties.

    watch party
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ North Dakota
penalties have been killers. i think we had 9 for 73 on saturday (one was on the onside kick), but the yards don't tell the story. i believe 3 were for illegal formations, two which negated long passes to Preece (of course, he might have been open because he was lined up as an ineligible receiver). one was the 2nd play of the game and took away a 20-yard pass. so, instead of 1st and 10 at the 45, its 2nd and 15 at our 15. instead of them on their heels and us speeding up the pace, we're stuck back in a bad situation deep in our zone. those penalties are killers, and kind of inexcuable. i can that happening late in the game when maybe someone is playing out of their position group, but the 2nd play of the game? attention to detail. we really need to be sharp on offense. makes life easier on the defense. they were on the field a long time in the 1st half.

i've been watching Ken Burns' Country Music on PBS (GREAT!!!! even if you don't like country). the last episode was titled 'don't get above your raisin'; meaning, don't forgot where you came from, don't get too caught up in the hype. so, don't get above your raisin, Ags.
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ North Dakota
time to start playing clean football and get on a roll. next 3 are tough matchups (two tough places to travel and poly at home), but winnable games. clean it up with the penalties, get the run game going, and tackle -> win these 3, get to 5-3 and welcome Weber to town. never look ahead of things, but there's lots of season left and plenty of good players out there. no reason not to turn things around starting with the Fighting Hawks.
  • FCS Games of Note: Week 5
I’m not a betting man but I’d put money on us and Poly.
  • Montana Game
I think they preempted our game for a special broadcast of Grant Napier’s analysis of the King’s Trip to a Dubai

More Cowbells!!! Cowbells, train whistle and the band!! Should be festive
  • Montana Game
I appreciate the passion for the band, and the need for discussion, just preferably on a conversation devoted to the band.
  • Montana Game
apparently there is a pre-game concert friday night that the athletic department is putting on to get the students interested in showing up. love to see a big crowd of them, and a big victory to get them hooked.
  • Montana Game
forecast for Saturday is 71 (its been bouncing around in that range, up to 75). pretty mild at kickoff. entire stadium will be in the sun at the beginning, and the sun shouldnt be the face of the student/east side until pretty late in the game. we're at the top of 123 (just below the press box), and i doubt we'll be out of the sun the entire game. we really lucked out with the weather. if yesterday's weather would have been the forecast, it would have been miserable.
  • Montana Game
I had heard that the injuries were not as bad as they looked during the NDSU game; not sure if that means all of those players are available for Saturday, or that they will be available soon.
  • Montana Game
it was 21-3 last year. i was there, on the field, and it wasn't going well. what impressed me at the time was the demeanor of the coaches -> no panic. players were rattled, but they seemed to get things under control at halftime (although we didn't score on the opening drive when half the stadium was still out in the parking lot, something that i thought at the time was a sign that we'd lose).

the biggest difference between halves last year was the pressure we got on their QB. in the first, he was very efficient passing, and picked up some nice yardage running. he's a big guy, not what you tend to picture when you think 'running QB'. second half, we got alot of pressure on him. a big strip sack led to a quick TD and i think hurt his shoulder -> right after that he had 2 INTS on long out patterns where there was no zip on the ball. offense started feeding off the defense, and vice versa, and BOOM, 40-something straight points.

i will say, that was the LOUDEST experience I ever had, and i saw KISS at the old Winterland in the 70's! from what i heard, the Fargodome was loud and electric, but nothing like Montana.
