I find it hard to believe this is driven by money!!!!

Seattle makes sense; private, religious institution like the other WCAC schools (i remember them being in a conference decades ago with SMC, USF). Grand Canyon is a little bit of an outlier. For-profit school with a very large fraction of online and grad students. Some controversy about their grad programs. Critics refer to it as a diploma mill.

They make alot of money and seem willing to spend alot on basketball to gain exposure.

I’ve searched on that and can’t figure out the answer. I know for football, May 1 seemed to be the magic date that transfers were no longer allowed.

If I read things correct, may 1 was the deadline to ENTER the portal. You can actually transfer up to fall unless you declare inactive. Example : we signed Drew Carter last year in July.

For football, May 1 was the last day you could transfer - at least that was the message from Plough when he declared it Lan Larison day (he was officially staying).

Plough mentioned this on a football alumni zoom the other night as a BIG DEAL for transfers. Helped them land a couple FBS guys for the fall. Not sure how much influence athletes and transfer portal had on Mrak, but it’s a welcome addition in the new recruiting landscape

when we lost in basketball and finished preseason with a couple other clunkers, I was really worried about the team. Boy, did they turn things around

still listed on department website. It shows 59.18-30.84. Really would have been lopsided without the men’s basketball brain fart

that sucks for Poly, especially this late. Maybe spring practice left him lower on the depth chart than starter? He didn’t impress last season

I thought I missed news that Stanford switched conferences again!

I do think Cal is ascending; not sure enough to be a factor in ACC in the near future

he could have done that at Stanford. Probably sees Cal on the rise and Stanford, at best, stuck in neutral

I wonder if they traded a smaller coaching staff for more out of state recruits?

looks like there have been some NBL -> NBA transitions. A few plated NCAA basketball but not sure if any actually completed their eligibility like Eli.

CSUN number is surprising based on their turnaround last year - maybe some were asked to hop in the portal by the new staff?

I heard Scott Marsh during one of the final games mention Rocek was looking for a graduate program at Davis so he could play his final year of eligibility
