I wouldn’t be surprised to see Hall initiate a lot of the offense.
  • Cal Poly-Humboldt
Samoa Cookhouse was definitely a highlight of the annual Humboldt trips.

From what I hear it was a close call for de Veres coming back. Glad it did. I think Raising Canes is going in next door. It’s a fast food chicken place that is popular in the south (and So cal too I believe). Kind of a strange place to put a fast food place but we’ll see how it works out.

De Veres opened last week on a limited basis as they ramp up operations. I plan to head there this week.

So three new faces for the coming season. One, Milling, will see a lot of time and may even start, while the two freshmen, Lose and Niles, will probably take some time to develop but seem to have high ceilings. All 3 are very athletic and listed between 6’4” and 6’6, which will fit nicely into Les’ scheme. Losing Squire and Koehler hurts but the future looks bright. Go Ags!

New HS commit per verbal commits. Sione Lose is a 6’4” local kid from Sac. Had an offer from suc st. Looks like he’ll need to develop a bit physically but his tape show a pretty athletic player with a good all around skill set.

This is from last year so I don’t know how he has developed.

Good stuff. Both are well deserving.

    That’s great news!

Really happy for Nick’s success. He and my son played on the same basketball team when they were young (good thing he stuck with football). He’s a quality person.

So Squire is transferring to Portland St. interesting change for him. Hope he finds what he is looking for.

hmmm...the same thing happened to me. what a coincidence.

I think you're spot on. I had forgotten that Squire is big into music, so moving to some place that might offer more options in the music scene than Davis makes sense.

Yep, 3 out and 2 in (transfer Milling and 6'6" freshman commit Cameron Niles.) Not sure if that frees up a scholarship for a new commit or if it was given to a current walk on like Ba.

It's hard to tell if this is a reaction to some larger issue going on within the program, or simply two guys independently making the best decision for themselves. Certainly the first time we've lost two starters to transfers in the same year, but then again, it's a lot easier to transfer now, so hopefully this is just guys taking advantage of the new rules. There's game minutes to be had now so it's time for others to step up.

Well the "hoping we don't lose anyone else" didn't last long. Kennedy Koehler entered the transfer portal. I'm a bit surprised on this one, too, as he only has one year of eligibility left. We'll rely on Angiwe in the middle, and hope that Bora and Murphy develop. Definitely feels like at least one transfer will be coming in.

Yeah, that sucks. Squire was a tough defender, strong inside for his size, and I think had some untapped potential in his outside shot. Wish him luck wherever he ends up. I hope he is the only player we lose!

The signing of Milling makes even more sense. He could step right into Squire's starting spot, or be one of the first guards off the bench. I wonder if we are in the market for another transfer?

Thanks for the info, Freg. I hadn't realized that Milling had ties to UCSB. I guess in about 10 years will be signing Alan Williams Jr.

we’ll get the odd one every once in a while, Hawk from ASU and Eddie Miller from Cal, but you’re right, we’ll need to rely on finding the diamonds in the rough.
