I’ve watched Effertz tape and he has a nice looking jumper. Probably someone who would need to develop, kind of like Mooney, over the next few years. But it would be nice to add someone with his range.

You’re right, of course. I guess my thought is that we may see a lot less of “give the ball to the guard and let him produce”. Depends a lot on who we add.

Yeah I fully expect some new blood will see a lot of minutes, what with so many players in the portal
  • MBB Off-season 2022
It’ll be a different offense next year. No more guard penetration oriented. Probably have to work to get our bigs shots down low and hope we can get more consistent shooting from Pepper and Milling.

Can you believe Leo DeBruhl’s year? About a year ago he was a solid prospect but with no good offers due to the pandemic. Very late in the recruiting process he hears from UC Davis who had recently lost a starting guard to port st. He comes here, has a limited but solid freshman year, but looks to be a backup for a few more years behind a BW first teamer. Now he finds himself as the only point guard on the roster. That’ll change, of course, but he has a real opportunity to step into major minutes as a sophomore. Funny how life changes quickly.

There sure is a lot of talent in the portal.

Assuming we were at the limit last year: Out (6) Fuller, Manjon, Shaw, Ba, McGill, and Niles. In (2) Strong and Mani, so that would suggest 4 open scholarships. But VerbalCommits has Ba listed as a non-scholarship player, so that would mean we have 3 open scholarships left. Don't know if VerbalCommits is accurate with that, so it's either 3 or 4. Going to be an interesting spring/summer as Les tries to pull this team together.
  • MBB Off-season 2022
Yeah that one's not a surprise, since they honored him, Fuller, and Ba at the last home game.
  • MBB Off-season 2022
Ha I know what you mean. I’m hopeful that we’ve seen the worse, but you never know. I’ve been trying to scour the coaches social medias to see if I can find and clues but it’s all just guesses and conjecture. Hopefully we get some good additions soon.

Not sure if we'd be able to compete with the other teams listed here, but it does at least show we are looking at transfers for PG help.

  • MBB Off-season 2022
Too bad as I thought he showed a few little things that he could build upon. Hope he finds what he’s looking for.

Lots of minutes to be had for a transfer.
  • 2022 WBB post-season accolades
He mentioned once that he has also done some emceeing for the Stockton Kings (G league). I got the feeling it was a one off rather than regular gig. Hope he's back for aggie football in the fall. He is very good at it!
  • 2022 WBB post-season accolades
So this may not count as post-season accolade, but I heard through the grapevine that Kayla Konrad and Darius Livingston are now engaged. Good luck to the happy Aggie couple.

I’m trying not to think about who’s next. We aren’t like other BW programs where you can go out and find someone and plug him in. This program only seems to really achieve when we are loaded with experienced players who are used to the schemes and playing together. Felt like next year might have been that year. Now, feels like we’ll be right back in the middle of the pack.
  • MBB Off-season 2022
Oh man that really does suck. I can't say I'm all that surprised, but I was hoping that he'd be an aggie for life. We'll certainly need to dip our toes into the portal and see what we can find, though it’s probably impossible to replace a Manjon. Les does have a good track record of finding point guards. I wonder if this caught coach by surprise or if he knew this was coming. Wish the kid good luck wherever he lands.

It does seem like there is more talent way down to the double digit seeds. It certainly makes the first weekend exciting. By the way, If you get a chance, check out noter dame vs nc st game this Saturday. ND has a very talented freshman point guard surrounded by shooters.

I watched a bit of the first half of this game. Even though it was relatively close at half, you knew it was just a matter of time. Baylor had just too much quality size.
  • MBB Off-season 2022
Hopefully he finds a place that works for him. I do wonder if that opens another scholly?
  • Men's 2022 Big West Basketball Tournament March 8-12
You know, I thought that with the unbalance schedules due to Covid, we might see a lot of upsets in the bwt. #1vs2 on both the mens and womens side. So much for that thought.
  • Women's 2022 Big West Basketball Tournament March 8-12
I think she was probably waiting for the foul. Just an unfortunate situation.

Going to be an Interesting off season. Do we add a transfer? Or do we have the talent in the program to make another run?

That inbound pass was the turning point. Inbound from the sideline and Turner got it down near the corner along the sideline. So bad choice of where to throw it. Then Turner didn't move immediately. She waited until the double team came (a second or so) and then tried to split it but got tied up instead. Why a timeout wasn't called either before the inbound pass or just as the double team came I don't know.
