  • UC Davis Dream Team Debate
I know I’m late to the game on this one. Instead the best players I’ll go with the guys that have made an impression over the years.

Mark Payne - a ton of talent but he was as great ambassador for the program. During warmups he’d regularly come over and give my kids high fives. His girlfriend, now wife, was a hell of an outside hitter for the Aggie volleyball team.

Chima and Hawkins. Clearly the two most talented players ever in the program. They both have made going to Aggie games a thing to do

Jason Rabedeaux- the one player from my time in school that I was excited to watch. Clearly not as talented as the guys we get now but he had a good 3 pt shot and always hustled. And I never got tired of the call “Rabadabado for 3!”

Jason Cox - I still remember watching him and wondering why a guy with his talent ended up at Davis. He, along with the rest of that d2 championship team was the real reason I went from the casual fan to the obsessed guy that dragged his kids to every home game.

Thomas Jullerat - I think 6th mentioned him. No one was tougher or a harder worker. Even now if I had to pick one guy to go set a screen or battle for a rebound it might be Jullerat.

I could probably go on and on (Harden, JT, Graham)

Thanks for the trip down memory lane

    Go Ags
  • MBB 6 pm Saturday: Aggies (11-5 & 2-0) @ Fullerton (10-5 & 3-0)
We always seem to have a game or two like this. Time to learn and move on
  • MBB 6 pm Saturday: Aggies (11-5 & 2-0) @ Fullerton (10-5 & 3-0)
given how well Fullerton has shot, we are only a few missed open 3’s from being right there. We need to move our feet better on defense too. Too much reaching
  • MBB 7 pm Thursday: Aggies (10-5 & 1-0) @ UC Riverside (5-11 & 0-2)
We seem to struggle at Riverside offensively the last few years. I don't know if that's backed up with stats, or just my selective memory, but a 10 point win on the road against anyone in the BW, no matter how ugly, is a good one. I'm confident that we come out with more defensive intensity on Saturday.

BTW, it was nice having Scott Marsh do the play by play for ESPN3.
  • MBB 7 pm Thursday: Aggies (10-5 & 1-0) @ UC Riverside (5-11 & 0-2)
Win at home, split on the road, leaves us with a 21-9 overall record, 12-4 in conference. This feels like a split weekend, with a win tonight. We seem to struggle at Riverside, but hopefully we come out with the defensive intensity that we saw last week.

  • MBB 7 pm Thursday: UC Irvine (5-11) @ the Aggies (9-5)
Nice pics. Shorts is amazing how he finishes amongst the big boys.

I'm not sure the Ags can play better defense. The perimeter defense didn't allow many open looks, double teaming when it was appropriate, and the interior defense was stellar. There was one series when we doubled off a pick, which left a big man (Rutherford I think) all alone a foot from the basket. As soon as he caught it and turned, Hennings flashed in front of him, and though he didn't touch him, it was enough of a distraction to cause UCI to travel. Definitely a situation when brain and hustle won out over size.

If you're like me, you'll figure it out just before they change the system.

Hey 6th...no problem at all. Thanks for pasting it in your post.

great to se the Ags playing well without Chima
  • MBB 2:30 pm Friday: Aggies (7-4) vs Lamar (8-3)
Good start to the second half. Ags up by 2 at the first media timeout
  • MBB 2:30 pm Friday: Aggies (7-4) vs Lamar (8-3)
wow something big happening with Chima apparently. Time for the next man to step up
  • WBB 6 pm Wednesday: Aggies (9-1) @ #17 Oregon State (8-2)
This was a particularly frustrating game to watch. I've watched the Ags through the years be totally bulldozed by top 25 teams (mostly Stanford)...we just didn't have anywhere close to the talent needed to compete at that level. But last night wasn't like that. Talent wise, we deserved to be on that court. Defense was good, we worked hard on the boards, but players just seemed to rush shots when they really didn't need to (focusing more on who's running at them and not enough on the shot itself). That comes from just not being used to playing against the big girls, I think. I know it's nice being ranked in the mid-majors, but with the talent level of this team, I would have liked to see them play 3 or 4 more Pac-12 level teams this OOC, even if it meant losing those games (and this goes for the men's team, too, I think). Get them used to playing top level competition, knowing how to succeed when the other team is taller and faster than the teams we'll face in the Big West. It'll get them ready not only for the regular season and the BWT, but also, hopefully, the level of competition in the NCAA tourney.

On to the Fordham Classic. Go Ags!
  • WBB 6 pm Wednesday: Aggies (9-1) @ #17 Oregon State (8-2)
This feed is driving me nuts. After every made OSU shot, they show TWO replays, no matter how routine the play was. So of course, we then miss most of the Aggie possession on the other end.

    Ags playing tough.
  • MBB 7 pm Tuesday: Aggies (7-3) @ Nevada (9-2)
This is going to be a tough one for the Ags. It may come down to who controls the tempo.

    Go Ags!
  • MBB 8 pm Friday: Aggies (7-2) @ San Francisco (5-3)
We need to pressure their perimeter shots and make some free throws!
  • MBB 8 pm Friday: Aggies (7-2) @ San Francisco (5-3)
Men played Santa Clara last year in the Cable Car tournament - season opening tournament hosted by SCU. Ags won...forget the score but it was a pretty entertaining game.
  • Aggie WBB up to #8 in this weeks Mid-Major Poll
So the #1 team in the mid-major poll, Green Bay, is #21 in the overall AP poll. #2 (south Dakota st) #3 (FGCU) and #12 (Ball st) in the mid-major poll are "other's receiving votes" in the AP poll. It will be interesting to see what happens after UCF and Oregon St (currently #17 in the AP Poll). Go Ags!
  • MBB 2 pm Saturday: William Jessop (8-2) @ the Aggies (6-2)
Great game by Printup. Another knock down perimeter shooter would really help.
