Amazing win. It feels like last year. Just figuring out ways to win. Wild big west!
  • Looking Forward to 2019
Grubard won his appeal and is heading to wazzu to replace minshue. He’ll probably lead the nation in yards next year.
  • MBB 2/7 7 PM: UCD (6-14 & 2-4) @ Cal Poly (5-15 & 1-6)
I'm pretty sure both were on the bench. I agree that John not getting any minutes is odd, and he may still be dealing with injuries. Add it to the list of odd things that's happened this year.

I haven't heard or seen anything that would suggest injuries, although that is always a possibility. I assume that Les is searching for the right lineup combination, and right now Fuller and John don't figure into it. It seems that he really likes the defense of Printup right now, which is probably the reason John is not getting more time. Printup and Goode are playing the 4 position, and Goode is playing some time at the 5, so just no minutes for John. And with Les going small with Gonzo starting, and the emergence of Mooney as a force, Fuller is the odd man out there. The rotation might change based on matchups, but this one seems to be working right now.

Of course, we are 3-4 in conference, and the 3 wins come against the two bottom teams (UCR and CP x2). Hopefully the renewed energy and confidence will show up at UCSB Saturday on ESPNU.

obviously silers minute decrease is at least partially due to the maturity of Mooney’s game. Joe is no longer just a catch and shoot guy. He can create off the dribble, passes well and his defense has really stepped up. Hopefully siler, whether he starts or not, can get his game going.

I’m wondering if part of the reason tj didn’t start was to limit his minutes. He played 25 mins which is a lot less than what he normally does. Squire had 24 mins.

It was a good one to watch especially the first half. Good solid defense and a lot of ball movement on offense. Of course it helps that we were hitting just about everything. Neufeld has really established himself as a legitimate threat down low. And the dual outside threat of Mooney and Gonzalez is very exciting to see. We’ll see this lineup a lot next year.

Very solid win. 23-23 from the line. Amazing

Hopefully we get some sort of explanation

Well just when you thought you’d seen everything. No tj Goode or siler to start and they are playing really well.

That Poly win is pretty surprising. UCR will either be pissed off when they play us, or completely demoralized.
  • WBB 1/31 6 pm: Long Beach (5-13, 2-3) at UCD (13-6, 5-1)
I missed the game. Sounds like the Aggies pretty much cruised. Thanks for the updates Russ

I'm with you on everything you said. If at the beginning of the season, I'd have probably predicted losses at beach (though I might have gone the other way on this one), at UH, and at UI. Even home to SB I might have guessed a loss. So I'm not really surprised at the results. It's the upcoming games at UCR and Poly that are almost must wins. And a good showing at UCSB would help too.

I thought Saturday's game was one of the stranger games that I've seen from the Ags in a while. First, the coach sat two of his senior starters on the bench for most of the second half. I get that Schneider (5 2nd half mins) can be inconsistent, but Goode (3 2nd half mins) is a guy that the coach usually brings in to settle down the defense. Second, Les usually does not stick with a lineup that is not playing good defense, even at the expense of the offense. I don't know the exact amount of time, but he used TJ, Mooney, Gonzo, Printup, and John/Neufeld lineup for a large part of the second half when the game started getting out of reach. I kept waiting for Siler and Garrison to come back in to try something else, but it didn't happen. Third, I get that Les might of liked Printups' defense on Purchase, but it's asking a lot of a guy that has only averaged 13 mins/game (and a lot of that in clean up time) to all of a sudden produce in crunch time.

So, was Les trying to match up with Hawaii and thought these players truly gave us the best chance of winning? Or was he sending some sort of message to his team by sitting two senior starters? Or something else? I've watched probably 90% of the games that Les has coached here at UCD and this was truly one of the more oddly coached games.
  • WBB @ Fullerton 1/26
she was ice cold at Csun. Rotation looked good though and she kept firing. So hopefully she’ll get back in the grove at home.
  • WBB @ Fullerton 1/26
Ags playing exceptionally well. This team is showing a lot of maturity
  • MBB 1/26 7 p.m. HST: UCD (5-13, 1-2) @ Hawaii (11-6, 2-1)
With Ahmad, Alman and Rowe csuf can get hot and beat anyone. But 21 pts is surprising.
  • WBB Battle for 1st Place:1/24 7:00 pm Aggies (11-6, 3-1) @ CSUN (9-9, 3-1)
UCD wins 60-49. Ags pretty much controlled the game after the first qtr. Good road win

I think you’re right with both Csun playing zone and us using both bertsch and stobbart together. Just read the enterprise preview and it alluded to both those things. Should be interesting to watch
  • MBB 1/26 7 p.m. HST: UCD (5-13, 1-2) @ Hawaii (11-6, 2-1)
Man they could really shoot from the outside. It was definitely an exciting team to root for! I think that's the squad that turned my kids from causal into hardcore fans, who still stream the games even though they are both along ways from Davis.

As for Saturday, Ags will definitely need to stay aggressive on defense and get some easy buckets in transition. If we have to rely on our half-court offense, than Mooney/Schnieder/Gozalez will need to be on from the outside to open up some lanes to drive.

    Go Ags!
