  • 2020 Men's Basketball Big West Tournament
Guess I'll be rooting for nothing but upsets on Thursday.
  • The Home Stretch
You're absolutely right. This team is not going to overwhelm anyone with their size, and they won't overwhelm anyone with their athleticism. We can overwhelm teams with our shooting, but I've seen too many good shooting teams fall apart in the cavernous Honda Center. So that leaves effort/hunger. Can we make those effort plays that turn a 2 point loss into a victory? And how will our freshman/sophomores handle the tournament pressure. Can't wait!
  • The Home Stretch
First time that I can remember having the late game on Thursday. While it seems like Hawaii has it every year. Regardless it should be another close game. Maybe we’ll hit the game winning shot this time
  • WBB: Aggies (16-11, 11-3) at CSUN (11-17, 6-8) 7 pm Thursday, March 5th
IF we win the BWT, I'm guessing we'll be heading to Eugene to take on Ionescu and Oregon.
  • The Home Stretch
Needed the Mooney 3 followed by Manjons bomb. A little momentum going into half

The guy over on the BW boards with all the different scenarios is amazing. My head hurts just reading it. Our best bet is to win both games and hope that UCSB wins out (good possibility) and CSUN beats Hawii on Saturday (another good possiblity...at Northridge). That would put us in a three-way tie and as you said, I think we get the tie breaker. But first steps first, tonight's game will be tough. We played well at UH so I'm hoping that a good home crowd on senior night will push us over the top. It's funny, sometimes when coaches start all the seniors on senior night, it's a pretty odd looking lineup. Mooney, Gonzo, Printup, and Neufeld (along with Manjon) is very solid.

I'm heading down to Anaheim this week and ready for a couple of good Aggie basketball days!!
  • WBB: UC Riverside (8-19, 4-9) at UCD (15-11, 10-3) 2:30 pm Saturday, February 29th
The Sanders injury looked bad. Her dad carried her out of the pavilion. Hope she is ok
  • MBB: Aggies (13-15, 7-5) at UC Santa Barbara (17-9, 6-5) 7 pm Saturday, February 22nd
Any potential rematch with UCSB at the BWT just took on a different tone. Max Heidegger, who seemed to be in the middle of the dust up with Joe, went down with a lower leg injury in UCSBs game last night. I haven't seen any official word on the severity, but guys over on the BW board seem to think it's serious. Too bad, as you don't like to see this happen to any player.

Scott Marsh did the play by play on ESPN3 of the LB/CSUN game last night. It was a bit strange hearing the voice of the Aggies on a non-Aggie game.

They seem to be pulling out the stops to get people to the double header Saturday. Emotional support dogs on the second level and baby races at halftime. Something for everyone!
  • USC cancels 2021 game with UC Davis
    And the replacement is...

  • MBB: Aggies (13-15, 7-5) at UC Santa Barbara (17-9, 6-5) 7 pm Saturday, February 22nd
I was at the earlier game between the two. With the way the Aggies started, there was some frustration on one side and some strutting on the other (neither of which seemed out of the ordinary). When Max got insanely hot in the second half and started bringing the Gauchos back into it, I think the Ags started pressuring him more and getting more physical. From his standpoint, I'm sure he wasn't thrilled with it, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Ags let him know that his team lost. Again, I didn't see anything I'd consider dirty, just hard physical play. Being such a small team, the Ags do have to play a physical brand of basketball to keep from just getting bulldozed by bigger stronger opponents. I can certainly see how that might tick off other teams, especially if the refs are letting them play.

Obviously I want players held accountable for their actions, but with Joe not having any history of issues, and the back and forth nature of the relationship, it seems like a warning is appropriate.

interesting words from Les. We need to make sure the right guys are getting the shots down the stretch. Yeah joe was really hot. That is uncharacteristic of him. Squire looked hot too.

Tough loss. We certainly didn’t play well but UCSB is tough and made the plays. Lots of words exchanged after the buzzer. Not sure what it was all about but it would be interesting if we see them in Anaheim
  • MBB: Aggies (12-15, 6-5) at Cal Poly (7-18, 4-7) 7 pm Thursday, February 20th
Ugly win but I’ll take any road win. Sets up a good contest on Saturday at UCSB for second place
  • Daytime basketball game?
I watched a bit of the game. We missed half a dozen layups (some contested but several wide open). Sounds like that was a trend throughout the game. Too bad that we couldn't capitalize on all the youthful energy in the Pavillion.

This makes Saturday's game at Hawaii a big one.
  • Daytime basketball game?
Well that’s interesting. Hope she can get back into shape to contribute at the BWT.
  • MBB: UC Santa Barbara (16-8, 5-4) at UCD (10-15, 4-5) 7 pm Thursday, February 13th
That's a good question. I honestly think that Pepper will be as good a 3 point shooter, eventually, as Mooney is now, and you mentioned Manjon, who can hit the open 3. Squire has that shot too and I'd imagine we'll see it more next year. Fuller should also be able to fill some of the void. Also we might see some transfers that will help out on the perimeter. We graduate 4 seniors and have only signed 1 for next year. Hopefully get some size, but maybe another shooter or two.

Edit: Actually, one of the best pure shooters we have is Cameron Ba. Watch him warm up and you'll see a bunch of swishes (easier to look good during warmups, of course). We'll see if the rest of his game comes around to a point where he sees some time.
