[reply="Russ Bowlus;31367" that’s good to hear. Like you said I’m sure they are trying to line up a game or two for that last week of the season so they can get enough games to qualify for the big dance if they win the BW tournament.

Koehler missed two free throws down the stretch that might have sealed the game in regulation. In OT UCSB came out more aggressive but the ags fought back. It basically came down to UCSB executing just a bit better. Overall I’m really pleased with the way the Ags played Saturday. If we can build on that, and get some folks healthy, we should cause some problems for teams in Vegas. As for Fueller he dressed but didn’t warm up so there is something going on. He did walk around on the bench so I’m hoping it’s not too big. I didn’t see Hogland dressed so that’s obviously not good. And Marsh said that Adebayo’s eye injury from last week is still hurting him.

Agree a “W” today is not that likely. Looking to see a more consistent effort throughout the game. Anyone know why Fueller didn’t play? I saw him on the “bench” so it didn’t look like too big an injury. We could use his offense.

I swear if we would have made all our open layups, we would have won by double digits easy. I thought Sage had two blocks...oh well.

A good second half for the Ags. The way this season has gone, we just need to get better a long the way. Hall was the lynchpin today. As for Gray, yeah she was down for a good 5 minutes in the first half. She was driving kind of stopped and the knee gave out. I could be wrong, but I'd be surprised if it's not an ACL tear.

Pretty sure Gray tore her ACL. Non contact injury. Seen too many of these. Really a shame for her.

Hey Freg. I always look forward to the UCSB games. I'd like to think that this weekend should be good contests, but with no crowd and such a long layoff, my expectations are very modest. I'm just hoping that we look better than we did last week. We didn't go very deep with our bigs (Koehler and Anigwe were the only ones that got any serious time), so I'm a little curious if Hogland, Murphy and McGill get some time. As for Shaw, he is getting some consistent minutes off the bench. He's super athletic and has a good feel on the defensive side, but he does struggle on offense. We'll probably see a variety of players trying to guard McLaughlin, including Shaw. Of course we switched on every one last week so it'll be interesting to see how Les goes about it this week.

Good luck watching the game on our stream. It can be a little shaky at times.

Some national press about the long layoff

That's a fantastic achievement for Sage. She has really stepped up her game since Bertsch left. I know we say it all the time, but it is impressive the talent that Coach Gross is getting, and more importantly, the development of that talent.

Just a side note, there is a familiar name in the list of previous DPOY winners: Kristine Anigwe of California (2019), sister of current Aggie Christian Anigwe.
  • COVID-19
My 93 year old parents just got their first shot of the Moderna. They were fine after it but I’ve warned them that the second one is a little rougher.

As much as I want the Ags to win every game, the realistic side of me is just looking for modest games each week, especially on the defensive end. Last Saturday was better than Friday, and as pointed out, this weeks games against UCSB will be particularly challenging. But hopefully we start to consistently see better rotation on defense and comfort with roles on offense. If we can see that each game out, then we should be able to compete well in Vegas at the BW tourney.

Adebayo was injured in Friday’s game (head injury of some kind) so he was out in Saturday. Not sure about McGill. Murphy got some clean up work Friday. And I didn’t see Hogland at all. Maybe we kept some big guys on the bench because of the matchup or maybe there’s some injury issues. Hopefully with a week of practice we’ll see a more polished team against the gauchos.

so the announcers kept saying that since UCSD was transitioning to D1 their games don’t officially count in big west play, so therefore the Ags record would still be 0-0 in big west play. But if you look at the official big west site it has our conference record as 0-1 (before today’s final) so that doesn’t jive. I guess it won’t really matter as everyone but UCSD makes the BW tourney. But it would be nice to know for sure

Much better defensive effort today. Still struggling with offensive flow but at least the effort is there

we do have a bye weekend in a couple of weeks so if it comes down to being one game short of possibly qualifying I would guess we would try to schedule an OOC.

Rough game. Hopefully they come out better tomorrow

Agreed. A wins a win but they still have a ways to go.

A bit rusty (especially Konrad). But when you make 10 3 pointers in a half, you're going to be tough to beat.

I'm curious if Campbell Gray plays. I forget exactly why she was out vs. USF, but she certainly adds valuable depth to the backcourt.

Game Day! Looking forward to seeing the team get the rust off. Hopefully everyone is healthy and ready to get back to it. Hogland played with a hand injury at the SC tournament, so I imagine he's recovered from that. Biggest plus might be Christian Anigwe. At 6'9" and 220 lbs, he could be the best interior defender we've had since JT. Also a little curious if Francesco Borra suits up. A 6'11" freshman, he's recovering from a torn ACL that happened about a year ago. Les said a few months ago that they were hoping to get him healthy enough to play some BW conference games this year. Another big body would be nice, though I'm not counting on anything for this year. Regardless, it'll be great to see the team out there again.

    Go Ags!!
