Who was Hawkins' OC at Colorado? Mark Helfrich. Interesting tidbit.

    The guys knows people.

Anything but the spread. If I see 4th and 3/4 inches at the 1 yard line from the shotgun once more on TV I'm going to barf. Personally, I'm bored to death with the spread at this point. Cutting edge in 2004....
  • FB: Watch Dan Hawkins Press Conference Right Here at 10 AM
I really think Hawkins is going to motivate these kids to reach the potential they couldn't meet under Coach Gould. Trying not to get overly optimistic, but I just watched the best Presser in UCD history......

    This guy is dynamite.

"Let the players own it." I think this was missing with the last guy.

"Big Sky is great and its only going to get better....when the Vandals drop in" Thought that was funny.
  • BREAKING: Dan Hawkins to be named UC Davis head football coach
Timing worked out nicely with the Sochor statue unveiling, beating Sac, and bringing in one of Sochor's boys as HC.

Good couple of weeks to be an Aggie! I bet this will boost recruiting. Even if the kids aren't entirely familiar with Hawk at this point, just a peak at his resume has to get the juices flowing. The guy is legit.
  • I don't know the legitimacy of this... but Dan Hawkins to coach UC Davis
Exciting news! Good publicity too....maybe will get a mention with our logo on SportsCenter?
  • 2017 Recruiting
It all depends on the new HC of course, but it would be nice to see CJ stay healthy and get a shot to be the starter.
  • MBB vs Weber State (First Round, Great Alaska Shootout)
Nothing glamorous about rebounding. Gotta do it!
  • Coach Gould

"Since his appointment, Gould has taken UC Davis’ football program to a new level — both on the field and in the classroom."
Uhhhhh, what? I just don't know what to say. This is actually insulting to the legacy of past Aggie coaches.....is this representative of a student population that has no clue what they are watching?
  • MBB vs Sac State

Chill man. I brainfarted on the winning percentages (was in a rush)
  • Assistants
Seems like a tough gig to be an assistant. Tough on the family to move around a lot.

I do hope at least of couple of these guys are kept in Davis. They work real hard.

We need to get this winner back somehow.

I know Hawkins would probably have his own guys, but this would be neat.....

    Dan Hawkins HC
    Troy Taylor OC
    Mark Johnson DC
    Jeff Copp assistant
    Tim Plough assistant
    Keane assistant

Copp and Plough are at NAU
Mark Johnson, last I heard, is at Woodland Christian right up the road

You mentioned hoping that Gould doesn't poach us.....
Me too! Kelley and Doss could probably play at Fresno State tomorrow.
If Gould truly values his relationship with these kids, I don't think he could truly, in good faith, lure them from UC Davis to Fresno State (provided he lands there with Tedford). After all, the recruiting mantra was "College is not a 4 year decision, its a 40 year decision."
  • Coaching Candidates
I like your list, with exception of anyone from Montana from that era....
I like the idea of Blue reaching out to Peterson, Patterson, Hawkins, his Stanford connection- Shaw, etc, for leads on assistants. I would bet HC's wouldnt want to volunteer their guys, but you never know what could come up.
  • MBB: Enough length to compete at the highest levels
I really would like to see more size and an inside presence. UC Irvine, UCSB and UCR don't seem to have problems signing guys over 6'9" We are talking about a style of play here with Les.

If we are holding ourselves to a higher academic standard when recruiting compared to Cal, UCLA, UCI, UCSB, and UCR AND are expecting to be competitive in the Big West more than once every 5 seasons, we are fooling ourselves. But this is a completely different topic, I know.

    Hawkins.

Dr. Blue, just make it happen this time. The last guy fumbled.
  • MBB vs Sac State
Les seems to recruit guards well. I don't like that we don't have a center, or anyone over 6'9" (yearly it seems). I would like to see better records (who doesn't), especially when we DON'T have the best player in UCD history. All-in-all, he has been better than the last guy.

    Les is 68-92 overall.

    Les overall winning %: .703
    Stewart D1 winning %: .582

I was going to go into subtracting the Hawkins "anomaly," but Les got him to come to Davis...which was a feat in itself.
