  • Men's Big West Conference Tournament Schedule March 9-11
When you see where UCI is seeded in people's brackets, (14? 16? play-in?) it is unlikely that a team they beat by 30 points is likely to go to the NIT.
  • Men's Big West Conference Tournament Schedule March 9-11
I think there may be a super-secret rule that provides for an auto-bid to the NIT for the team with the greatest time of possession.
  • Men's Big West Conference Tournament Schedule March 9-11
One of the bracketology sites had E. Washington in the NCAA for the Big Sky and regular season champ North Dakota going to the NIT.
  • Men's Big West Conference Tournament Schedule March 9-11
I don't think the NIT has auto-bids for anyone except the regular season champs who failed to win their conference post season tourney. (I read something about auto-bids to the "First Four Out" of the NCAA, but I think that's a given...) There are even "bracketology" predictions for this year's NIT. They don't have any BWC teams.

One of them has NIT 'bubble teams' and 'teams given serious consideration." UCD is not listed in any of them.

Maybe CBI, CIT, Vegas 16? A tournament yet to be named?

And UC Davis also continues to roll in the Causeway Cup.

Other then a tie in women's soccer and one win in the two match ups in men' soccer Sac State has lost to the Aggies in

    Cross Country
    Football
    Men's basketball
    Women's basketball
    Volleyball
    Gymnastics
    Men's tennis
    Women's tennis
    Softball
and perhaps another sport that I am forgetting.

    in the 2016-17 competition .

Can't recall a year like this.

So the 2016-17 Causeway Cup has already been captured by Davis in a run away .

And now it has been years since Sac won the Cup and
this year was not even competitive like the past few years where we lost it as well by a game here or there.

    What has happened?

Sac State has hit rock bottom in the Causeway Cup competition so there is no where to go then up from here.

And there is always next year.

Aggies complete the sweep in gymnastics tonight to bring the running score to 55-5.
  • Causeway Cup
I don't feel bad for them. I recall a long, long time ago when they moved to D1 and D-1AA before the Ags did so, and got a bit of a run going in football, some Slack coach, possibly Mattos, said something like there may come a time when we can't play Davis anymore.

Running score is now 52.5 - 5. Too close for comfort.
  • Causeway Cup
Ags swept softball for the first time in 6 years.
  • Causeway Cup
Won it January 29 with a win in gymnastics. It's all sweet icing on the cake from here on out.

Next up, return games/meets in softball on Wednesday and gymnastics on Friday.
  • Causeway Cup
Men's tennis picks up five more points with a 5-2 win today. Running score is now 50-5.
  • Causeway Cup
Aggie women beat Slack this afternoon, 4-3, in the first of two softball games. Running score is now 45-5 with 30 points still out there. Men's tennis this Saturday and the return softball game next Wednesday.
  • MBB: Aggies (16-10 & 8-3) @ CSU Fullerton (12-12 & 6-5)
ESPN website's most recent "Bracketology" has UCI in for the BIg West.
  • Causeway Cup
Yeah, and you got the nod for posting the score on the day it happened.

Weird that I tried to edit the message as it was posted yesterday, just to save myself from looking any dumber than my kids already think I am, and my attempted edit was blocked as spam. To be honest, most of what I add to this website is probably spam.

Do as you wish, I am not bothered by it being there, and it has started a life of its own.

I have no idea where the above message has been lingering in the cyber-void. I hit "send" on the day of the match, 1-28-17. Maybe I should take my Commodore 64 into the shop for some repair work.
  • Causeway Cup
Aggie women defeated Slack in tennis today, 4-3, to bring the cumulative points to 40-5 and guarantees at least a tie in this season's competition. A win or a tie in any of the 10 remaining events gives the cup to the Ags.
  • North Dakota set to leave Big Sky
My googling led to the same conclusion. All in the wishlist stage for Triton fans.

Now if the Big West accepted Slack and UCSD, but kept Hawai'i maybe we could have UCSD and Hawai'i as travel partners. A weekend in San Diego and Honolulu. Sounds great, but there wouldn't be anytime to enjoy either place.

And what's with the WAC? They have become the foster home of athletic conferences. Home to anyone in need of a league.
  • North Dakota set to leave Big Sky
Another poster on that same the Slack site thread claims that "the BWC is set to add UCSD this spring and the WAC just added Cal Baptist (CBU) who will start their D1 transition with the WAC in 18-19..."
  • North Dakota set to leave Big Sky
As the article suggests, some of UND's moves have been influenced by a tiff between UND and NDSU. As I recall, UND was not happy when NDSU moved to D-1....seems a little silly because UND has been a D-1 hockey power for years.

So with the two North Dakota schools resuming regular play in football, will they re-tool the rivalry trophy? It has been some variation on the nickel, which made sense when the teams were the Bison and the Fighting Indigenous Americans...but in these enlightened times, not so much.

On a similar subject, there is chatter on the relatively quiet Slack State boards wondering why they aren't trying to move to the Big West, like UCD and CP-SLO. http://www.bigskyfans.com/hornets/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2613
