Riverside comes to town tonight for a 7 pm game with the Aggies. The Highlanders have had their difficulties this season but they've played a tough OOC schedule and the Ags can't be caught taking them lightly. They have played a difficult OOC schedule that includes loses to USC, Stanford, UCLA, SMU, Arizona State, Iowa State and Minnesota so their record is deceptive.
Not surprisingly, given the their tough schedule, UCR has been outscored by their opponents by 10 ppg scoring 64 ppg to the opposition's 74 ppg. They are led on offense by 5'8 Sr G Michelle Curry at 15 ppg along with 5'10 RSr G Lauren Holt at 12.4 ppg. Like many teams nowadays, the Highlanders go abroad in their recruiting and list 4 players on their roster from France.
The Aggies are coming off a sterling performance in their win over Hawai'i last Saturday They played like they are truly capable of playing for the entire game with strong contributions from their bench as well. Riverside will be very athletic and quick and, although the Ags will have a height advantage in the paint, limiting offensive rebounds on the defensive boards has been a problem for the Aggies this year and they will need to block out well and be aggressive on the boards.
Tip off at the Pavilion is set for 7 pm and the game will be streamed live online by Big West TV:
Aggies win 74-63. Rachel Nagel, Pele Gianotti and Dani Nafehk got hot from 3 and the Ags built up a 15 point lead and kept control after that for the win.
