I still say we should change our name to the "Wine Makers". It would give us a ton of free pub for the university and distinguish Davis from the other UC's.

Wine makers is too hyper specific imo. I didn’t know anyone who was in the program before I graduated last year. It’s a cool program but far from the identity of the school. Also, drinking wine is less popular than ever. Having some cool wine themed things at the stadium would be cool, renaming though?

Yeah, I’d say stick with Aggies. As a person who is against alcohol I’d give a hard pass on”Winemakers”. Davis is known as the UC agricultural school.

I don't think a mascot/name change is necessary by any means. We have 100+ years of rich history being Aggies and I personally think we should strive for another 100 in the same tradition.

Why do we keep talking about changing from Aggies on here? Its so weird.

I think @Sailorgabe is suggesting the name change tongue in check. In any event it’s not changing. As @Wookie said it’s our history and tradition. Something that makes college football tie generations together.

If we were the Wine Makers, they could use paper sacks to carry their gear rather than nice equipment bags! Or go really old school and not wear shoes on the Aggie Wine Maker Walk, or else they could line the gutters right before they turn up to the stadium with grapes and everyone could do a little smash on the way to the locker room.
