They've got most of the better teams.represented I.e. teams that have appeared in various top 25 pre-season lists
I've seen more mention of Idaho State as a ranked team this year than Idaho. Southern Utah might deserve having a game.

I can see Papa Hawk as a draw, but the kid hasn't done anything yet. Except beat the Ags on a blocked punt. That's not enough for ESPN2
Interesting. Also what I just realized is that some of the ESPN dates listed are Friday night games. I don't support college football on Friday nights, leave that for the kiddos.

All's quiet on the Western Front...
Nothing out of Portland to discuss yet. Not even a kickoff time.
Aggies probably heading into finals soon.
SMU is pre-season #19 in one poll I found.
Montana is continually overrated in every poll.
Too early for early commits, if that is even a thing at FCS.
Tahoe jerseys vs. UNC on 10/24 and Nevada still sucks. THAT'S OUR LAKE!
    Temperatures creeping up.
Waves are flat in my area.
No more Tom Steyer commercials to endure. Not meant to be offend anyone, just sick of those commercials.
Anything you guys care to discuss?

Very quiet. Curious how recruiting is going and the health of the boys. Who's the biggest improver in the BigSKy this year? I'm betting cal poly

Monday will be a receiver clinic for local HS players. My Folsom HS grandson will be attending, as well as some of his team mates. That program (Folsom) always has tough teams. They are serious about their football and are a good feeder school for the Ags.

What's the basis for Cal Poly? Just curious. Tons of transfers, new coach with a defensive pedigree, they could creep into that 4-4/5-3 range in Conference.

Idaho is intriguing to me. They have everything going for them but I don't think the "new" staff is a draw. If they don't improve, they should cut bait. That is too good a job to be languishing in the bottom third of the Big Sky.

I project Idaho State finishing at or below last year's 6-6 overall/5-3 in conference mark.

So, getting back to the "Who's the biggest improver in the Big Sky this year" question: I'll take Southern Utah. They weren't even in the conference last year so I guess that doesn't count. I'll take the low-hanging fruit: Portland State. I'll say they make a 2+ win improvement off of the 1-7 in '25, even with their nasty uniforms.

Celebrating John Madden and the new football building in SLO. Focusing on ISU as a televised road team is missing the point.

I feel like there are way worse violations/violators out there, but here we are.

If we had a dollar for the tampering that is occurring, we would be rolling in the dough. I am still not used to the Fighting "Hawks"...

The Mrs. and Sons Madden Center is definitely an upgrade for Cal Poly. They may have been using the worst facilities in all of Division 1 football for many years, and I am happy for them. I really like their HC and if anyone is going to get them back on track, it will be Skip.

I don't recall how I focused on ISU as a road team somewhere, but yeah, I don't think they belong on national TV but I don't make that call. Beauty of it is, I don't have to watch them if I don't want to.

    Have a good weekend fellas!

Chose Davis over multiple FBS schools - a few MW schools and 2 MAC schools. Impressive get especially from Folsom.

(tune in at the 20 minute mark for Davis stuff I think)Some really interesting thoughts on the "Bluebloods" podcast about the upcoming season. Pretty reputable podcast that works with Sports Illustrated and FCS Central. They think Davis is prime to move into that 2-3 spot in the Big Sky and think this season could be the one where they become a great team not just a really good one.

The perspectives on QB were striking. They seem all in on Kollack, suggesting that he could be the Jerry Rice winner this year (as a ceiling). They actually think that he has a higher ceiling than Pinnick in some ways. Lots of talk about returning talent and stuff too.

I was also happy to hear that others think Idaho State could be a dark horse next year. We all love the Hawkins and I am so glad that ISU is getting some momentum (granted it would be nice if they were not conference competitors haha).

I would recommend listening. I don't have the energy to summarize it all lol.

These two guys have a print Big Sky preview at at FCS Football Central
In this podcast they say Ty Richardson had a learning curve when in fact he missed games 4 thru 9 because of injury.
The number of players who played 200 snaps obscures the fact that Davis’ defense lost 5 of the 6 top tacklers from last season.

I can see how The Bluebloods would assume Kollock will start -- they're completely wrong in stating that '4 starting offensive linemen' return, we all know that's not true, so I think they're misinformed a bit. Looks like a full on battle at QB to start.

I like the Ags getting some hype, but I think it's a bit premature to pencil Kollock in as the starter let alone as a Jerry Rice favorite. He certainly comes with an outstanding pedigree, size, and athleticism, but we have no idea how it will translate to the college game.

I’ve only paid attention to college recruiting for a few years, inspired by your lists, but thats long enough to be skeptical about HS player rankings. Some of our best recruits have been highly rated, while some other highly rated players never play. The ratings are too influenced by whether a player has pro dimensions, which very weakly correlates to college performance. Whichever QB Plough choses is going to have the spotlight and they’re both redshirt freshmen, so have a good shot at freshmen awards.

yep I agree for the most part especially when we are talking about 3 star recruits. It's mostly a crap shoot at that level. Once you are talking about 4 and 5 star guys it's getting more reliable, but still definitely not perfect.
