Well, I thought you had to be making progress towards a degree. 12 years is not progress
18-30 or 9 years whatever. Where is the progress?

"Seven years of college down the drain. Might as well have joined the f*&%ing Peace Corps." If only Bluto had been a USC Trojan/Montana Grizzly.

This thread has become a catch-all for griping, generally. Die thread, die.

correct. Progress towards degree is (should be) enforced but with college football these days why consider the academic side (unfortunately).

i think they stop counting at five years at which time a player is supposed to be at least 80% there.

Looks like the Ole Miss QB, Chambliss will be granted another year of eligibility.

Do we know if they are still fighting for this?

attorneys presented an argument to NCAA with, supposedly, precedent of a similar case. Still awaiting the verdict.

I’m curious where do you get this info? Has UC Davis filed a formal complaint with a court regarding this issue. Was the argument made to a judge or just to the NCAA? Isn’t it highly doubtful the NCAA will back down even with the best of arguments?

they don’t record them - they are geared to football alumni, since Plough pulls back the curtain and expects certain things not to go public.

After extensive research I can find no evidence that UC Davis has filed any formal complaint in court against the NCAA regarding the Conners brothers eligibility. Does anyone have any information on this that I may have missed? In any event the parties appear to be in serious negotiations at present. This is important because if negotiations fail the Conners, (As many of you have predicted) the university has a very limited ability to have the case heard before spring practice. The dockets of all possible courts where the case could be heard are crowed and slow. I would think if the Conners miss spring practice they are likely done with college football no matter how this case is resolved ultimately.

Do you work in the legal field?

Couldn't they skip formal spring practice, work out privately, and rejoin the team in the summer?

Yes I did (Now retired) and I guess yes they can hopefully. Thanks movie you seem to be the other person on this thread who actually cares about this issue. We care about the kids, not so much about the program. Hey, they could get the decision in their favor and then go into the portal. A decision I would not like. Wouldn’t expect this from these great kids.

Another thing to consider is that they are both most likely still rehabbing from their injuries, at least that would be the case for Rex I believe. This seems to be so obvious and such a no-brainer for the NCAA, but as I was once told by a wise old man, "assumption is the mother of all f-ups."

I'm pretty sure it hasn't got to the lawsuit stage yet. It was sitting with the NCAA as of a couple weeks back, and we were awaiting their decision. I'm sure it will be discussed tomorrow at the coach's lunch

I never saw what exactly Rex’s injury was. I guess medical details of a players injury are sometimes now considered to be confidential which is fine with me. But if it was a ACL injury we would be lucky to see him play next season if at all. Forget when he was hurt. ACL rehabilitation one year +/-?
  • Pacifico2

Pretty certain it was an ACL. In many cases, a player can recover at a satisfactory level at or just before the 12 month mark. A year seems to be the norm (correct me if wrong). Everyone heals differently.

Porter was in a boot, so his recovery would be a lot sooner one would imagine.
