No surprises. The home teams were also the ones with better records and they all won so we're starting to see some spread now. Bakersfield, UCR, and the Beach look to be long shots to make the tournament and Cal Poly will be trying to overtake Fullerton and UCSD for the 8 seed. We're in a three school battle for the 4 seed, but at least own the tie breaker over UCSB.

it was comical. Turner was irate, flailing his arms yelling ‘what did I do? What the f—- did I do!’ over and over. Pasternik, all 140 LBs of him, wanders up to half court to poke his nose into it. It then looked like an Irvine coach said something to him at which point he went nuts. He COULD have charged the Irvine coach but kind of let his assistants surround him and keep him from an altercation. It did earn him a T

It was a quite a bit more "colorful" than that and I don't think he ever got an answer. I'm not sure Pasternack would have faired well if he would have gotten to Turner. These two coaches are vying for the title of the "Angriest Head Coach of the Year" in the Big West...:lol:

I just watched the ejection. However, I was more impressed with the UCSB attendance. It's very uncommon to see the UCD attendance at that level.

Current standings as of 2/12:

Poly over Irvine was a shocker. A win over LB on Saturday should just about guarantee a playoff berth (I’m not hopeful of a 4 seed!)

A win over the Beach would put us 5 and a half games ahead of them and clinch the 8 seed, at least. It would also keep us within a game of the 4 seed, but we'd have to play a lot better on the road with 4 more away games (including the finale at UCI) plus Hawai`i. An 11-9 final record and the 6 seed seems about right unless they really turn it on.

The race at the top could be tightening up a bit:

With the exception of the bottom three schools, things are getting tight again. With only 6 minutes left, CSUN now leads Hawaii 76-49. There is now only 3.5 games separating the 1 and 8 seeds.

The Big West is living up to it's Wild, Wild West reputation! Now we need Fullerton to knock off Irvine and Riverside to upset San Diego tonight as well.

I think I’m rooting for Irvine to keep Fullerton behind us.

The good news is that the Ags are only a game and a half out of first place and play two of the teams ahead of them. The bad news is that the Ags play two of the teams ahead of them and four games on the road where they are 2-4 so far in the Big West.

I can imagine a world where we go 3-2 down the stretch to finish 12-8 but not sure that’s good enough for top 4 unless we tie with UCSB (own the tiebreaker). 4-1 could do it, but that’s a big ask.

After that, I don’t know where we’d want to be. We don’t seem to match up with UCSD for some reason so let’s avoid that in the first round. Any favorable matchup? Not really.
