Davis over UCSB in 4 close sets to move into the Big West Tournament Championships. The Aggies notched their 21st win of the season, something not achieved since 2011. UCD plays either Long Beach or Cal Poly tomorrow at 5 PM, with the winner advancing to the NCAA Tournament.

The win over UCSB was quite a match with every set being a nail-biter: 25-23, 23-25, 29-27, 27-25). Poly will be an another very tough match. The Mustangs beat the Ags in 4 sets in their only match earlier this season.

Cal Poly beats The Beach in 3 sets. Sets up a great final. Two best teams in the conference regular season.

Poly wins the first set decisively 25-16...simply overpowered the Ags.

Poly takes the 2nd set 25-20.

UCD Takes the third!

The Ags finally got in a rhythm taking the 3rd set 25-20.

Poly runs away with the 4th set 25-15 and wins the Big West Tournament and earns an auto-bid to the NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately, the Aggies' great season ends in disappointment.

Great season-tough loss in the tourney. UCD RPI's pre Big West tourney was 48 (very impressive). UCSB was 51 and Cal Poly 54. With all the automatic bids I think UCD is on the outside looking in. Not sure about how volleyball's NIT works, but they might head that direction. Great season for a the very BEST UCD volleyball in our school's history!

NCAA field will be announced this afternoon/evening. (3:00??) 31 autobids, 33 at-large.

Great article. Light is a great example of a UCD athlete who is also a serious student, and who is connected to the greater campus community. I think most UCD athletes are similarly connected , and equally value their education. At least those that I chat with at games.

I hope Davis never lets that dynamic slip away.
