Yes, it's been "the next man up" all season long and the team and coaches have simply found a way to keep winning. It's been a remarkable season.

What's the feel that you are getting on campus about students staying around to attend the game?

Lame that the dorms close on Friday right before the game.

Plough mentioned this was a problem even for guys on the team living in the dorms - potentially have to sleep on floors or get hotels. I’d love to hear a compelling reason from student housing why people can’t stay till Sunday even if no dining hall. It’s not like they’re paying OT to clean the hallway carpets on the weekend.

Saturday at noon I think but same thing.

Why do you think that is? Hype from the past week or a better game time and weather?
  • Jdur

Both. I think the nationally broadcasted game got a lot of alum and local people seeing the game and where the team could potentially be if they win.

    NCAA rules limits playoff roster to 65 players; not a problem for us with our 54. Of course could have lost a couple last week;

Ah, got it. Plough said move out Friday. But probably just so they aren't moving out the morning of the game.

Wild that this is the stuff a D1 program deals with.

The things that make Davis great far outweigh this type of thing though, thankfully (for now). The guys seem to really love the program. Plough is doing things the right way.

Other programs don’t have to deal with stuff like this.

And don't sleep on this being their 3rd consecutive road game, after flying to Louisiana and Fargo.

Went back and looked at the stats. Davis outgained ISU 558-415. Wright had 8 carries for 71 yards in about a quarter and a half before getting hurt. Never came back. Doesn't mean he would have continued at that pace but he was on pace for 190 yards in the game. ISU had a 47 yard FG blocked when they were up 7-0.

It was 28-10 at the half. Second half begins with
-ISU goes 13 plays 68 yards, turnover on downs on 4th and 2 at the UCD 6
    -Davis punts
-ISU goes 13 plays 64 yards, interception on 4th and 3 from the UCD 16
    -Davis punts
-ISU goes 13 plays 59 yards, turnover on downs on 4th and 5 at the UCD 18

Davis got TDs on the next two drives to close it out.

Defensively, ISU couldn't stop the Davis offense. 6 TD drives and only 2 drives were 3 and out. And you can say Davis had a bend and don't break defense, but if ISU manages a TD on that first drive, it's 28-17 and maybe they kick FGs on the next two. Then it's 28-23. Or maybe 28-20 if they go for the TD on the second one since it's the 4th quarter.

I agree Davis was the better team that day. But yeah, much closer game than the score indicated.

ISU is strong up front defensively, Davis returns most of their starting offensive line...Pinnick can move. The battle of the day is up front when Davis has the ball, that's my 2 cents.

Ridiculous housing or Mrak Hall can't solve this. Has anyone pinged Chancellor May?

Give the young men at least until Monday to regroup. If the dining halls and housekeeping aren't needed, what's the issue? Where's the Hello Aggie spirit?

And when we advance, are they supposed to live out of duffel bags? How about designate a dorm or two for extended playoff use?

Chancellor Mrak would have made it happen.

Students will not show up to this. As much as I love UC Davis football, I can't even make it. I'll be kicked out of my dorm hours before and can't justify driving hours back and forth. If I could stay saturday night? hell yeah, im here. It's my own dorm for the love of God lmao

Another reason Housing should - AT MINIMUM - extend dorm use another full day.

i absolutely agree. i'd be astonished if it somehow throws off their entire gameplan for cleanup anyway. and even if it does -- THIS IS A MOMENT FOR UC DAVIS TO STANDUP AND PROVE HOW MUCH THEY CARE ABOUT FOOTBALL! tarleton state has committed to keeping dorms open as long as their playoff run continues. I'm not asking for that. just ONE day.

The dorms can't stay open for another night??? That is crazy. Why not?
  • aggieandcougarfan

They have no plans to leave them open. I've commented about it on the UCD football page, but thats all a student like myself can really do in this scenario. If anyone has a connection to Chancellor May -- REACH OUT! i know students who can/would stay if the opportunity presented itself.

That and moving finals for athletes feel like easy ways we can bolster our athletics. We have enough problems with the lack of donors but this is something we can fix WITHOUT money. Any problem that doesn’t come with a dollar sign is unacceptable

Coach and AD should make nonstop noise about this dorm situation

It seems like Chancellor May is very supportive of Aggie Athletics. You'd think he would be aware of this problem with the dorms closing and finals impacting our athletes during the playoffs.

Dorms close at noon on 12/13 and the game is at 2pm. Maybe I’m missing something but why would this require additional driving?

Only watched the first 2 minutes. Everyone seems to be in love with Tarleton State right now. Sleeping on the Aggies (probably because of the televised MSU loss in November).

Underdog status is just fine with me. We have as good a shot to get to Nashville as any team. I'm not understanding the Villanova love. I'm not sold on the CAA as being on-par with the Big Sky (even this year).

the majority of us are finished/almost finished with finals. I've already made previous accommodations to go home earlier, but would be willing to come back/stay if dorms stayed open. As to why i'd like to stay another night and can't drive home if i were to watch the game.... those tailgates are fun....
