Several of the 247 analysts defected to On3 so the depth of coverage has declined and it’s unlikely guys on the cusp of the FBS will get much attention on either platform going forward. Has been a fun few years though.

We signed DB Jeremiah Brown from San Jacinto HS.
Please do not confuse him with LB Jeremiah Brown from San Jacinto HS. (Oregon State commit)

That doesn't sound correct to me. Denham's profile page says "Also rated on various online scouting services: No. 11 in West by Studentsports.com, No. 7 in California, No. 58 nationally by Scout.com and No. 32 nationally by Rivals.com." but when I went and looked at the old rivals database (which was sold to on3) where I did not find him in their old rankings as well as the old scout database (acquired by 247) and did not see him there either... which I was surprised they still have the databases from recruiting classes 20 years ago.

4 and 5 star recruits have historically been almost exclusive to the power FBS conferences as freshmen. FCS teams are currently capable of landing some of them as transfers later on in their careers, but are rarely still considered 4 star players at that point in time.

While I am impressed across the board in this recruiting class, here are a couple of guys that have me particularly excited as guys who could see the field early.

DB Chaz Gilbreath - Watching his highlights (which highlights are called highlights for a reason) he has a real capability to be sticky on receivers while getting his head turned around to watch the ball which is a skill that not a lot of high schoolers are able to demonstrate. He ended the season with 4 interceptions and 14 passes defended.

RB Coby Herman - Kid was an absolute production monster in high school. His senior season he had over 1400 rushing yards (9.77 yards per rush), but what could get him on the field early is that he is a very solid receiving back where he had over 600 receiving yards (20.8 yards per reception). Very athletic kid.

WR Jackson Fay - Similarly to Herman, Fay was a production monster his senior season with over 2200 all purpose yards. He's not the biggest kid (which has become the MO for our WR corps), but he straight up knows how to find the end zone. He broke 2 single season records at his high school for receiving TDs (18) and total TDs (33).

DL Ben Honebein - Dude put up 25 sacks in a season. I'm not familiar with Hawaiian high school football overall quality (I know that they put out plenty of FBS players, but not sure on the depth of teams), so I don't know if this is a situation of just beating up on bad OLs or not but 25 sacks would be like top 10 nationally for high school players.

OL Robert Beverly - If there's something you can't teach it is size and he's coming into college standing at 6'8 285. If he can beef up to fill out that frame this off season then he could be an absolute bully on the line.

How many former 4 star guys were over in that Sac State locker room a few weeks ago?

Plough was saying this is the highest rated class we’ve ever brought in - for what that’s worth. Seemed very high on the OL and the DL from Hawaii.

I wouldn't use SACST first year as a qualifier. SACST is going to be better next year. Talent is talent. But since we are no longer playing them or are even in the same league, no sense needing to care anymore.

I remember seeing Denham as a 4* QB on the recruiting days. But, when he signed the letter of intent he was immediately downgraded into a 3* Funny, you do not.see him now

I felt like the website has a habit of downgrading FCS players once they are signed.

that's not an uncommon practice and sometimes high 3 stars get upgraded to 4 if they sign with a SEC team. I'm not saying you're wrong, just I can't corroborate 1 way or the other.

Regarding Coby Herman, he will likely be the third San Diego area running back on the roster, joining Mason Walsh and Aden Jackson. I saw an interview of Coby where the interviewer commented on it.

I think teams were afraid he would do his missionary work during the school year so they did not pursuit his services.
