Two teams that can both run the ball for 200+, it will be a matter of stopping them on the ground and Special Teams making some plays and creating field position. Ideally, the Ags will force the Go-Gos to play from behind and put the ball in the air. To do so, we'll have to protect the QB against what is statistically one of the best pass rushes in FCS football. Conversely, Marion will throw a ton of personnel groupings and formations at the Blue Force. Expect to see as many substitution matches as you've ever seen on Saturday. The Go-Gos will be running different groups in, and we will wait and send our guys out to match as late as the officials allow. Cat and mouse game that I'm really looking forward to. This thing is probably the Aggies by a TD or less and that is what I expect it to be unless we can force them to throw and/or force some turnovers and actually cash them in for once. Go Ags!

The combined record of Sac's opponents is 44-73...vs. Montana they gave up 6 sacks and only registered 1. I'm using this as a measuring stick as to the kind of output and result Davis can engineer in their matchup with a proper game plan. No sacks @ Nevada for Sac.

kickoff returns are a BIG concern for me. Punt coverage has been good, but we seem to have at least kickoff returner each game into our side of the field. That just can’t happen

Someone or some group (maybe Aggie rally committee) has put up these flyers in a ton of bathrooms all over campus saying go to the game haha

Oddly, I don't remember this game being called the Causeway Classic when I was a student. Maybe it's just my memory. How long has that term been applied to the rivalry?

Great perspective, I had not taken that close a look at the schedule. 0 Sacks vs. Nevada is telling. My only concern, which I am sure has been addressed, is how we protect one of the edges in our play action protection. Mano y mano I think we're fine.

I am with you 100% with that concern. A lot of it is the kicker I'm convinced. In modern coverage schemes (unlike when I played football a long time ago), the kickers are instructed exactly where to put the ball and all the coverage shifts in that direction. I feel like we have to be mis-hitting the ball and putting it in the wrong spot. That's my hunch; I can't see our schemes being that bad. at this level of coaching/play.

Yeah, they've primarily been running all over sh*t teams, and losing/barely beating stronger ones. Still, they haven't played anyone of any significance besides Montana (SDSU ended up not as good as advertised).
They haven't won a game they were expected to lose, IMO.

Against similar opponents to Davis (SDSU, Nevada, Montana) things didn't go great. Its been a month since they've played a strong opponent (Montana).

To me, Sac is a bit of an enigma as far as how good they really are. We could beat them by 21, or it could be close. I say its a rivalry game and anything is possible- that's why these are the most fun!

My last year was 1986 and if I recall it was named the Causeway Classic in '82 or '83.

Signing off to load up the old Family Truckster with provisions, then pointing it north up the coast towards the Causeway. Safe travels to all Aggies heading to town to see that MOTHER LOVING (sic) WATER TOWER GET LIT AROUND 4:30 PM ON SATURDAY NIGHT!!!

We are Amtrak'n it! So cool to have a station in town.
(Our trip is only 46 minutes though!)

Sac State linemen enter Causeway Classic with a plan: ‘We’re gonna smash you’

Marion has called “Coach K-Rich the best in the country,” and he has praised the linemen for their work. Marion challenged the Hammerheads to hammer away earlier this season, and they have responded.

“We’re definitely a power run-team,” Richardson said. “We’re gonna smash you in the face and come at you and attack you with various run schemes. At the end of the day, my guys are going to ram into you harder than anyone is going to ram into us.”

“Every lineman in the county wants to run the ball,” coach Richardson said. “You want to impose your will by ramming into people as much as possible, being violent, being tough, putting guys on the ground. Every lineman wants to do that, and our guys have completely bought into that and love every second of it.”
