The Aggies travel to Palo Alto on Thursday for their annual meeting with the Cardinal.

Stanford, undefeated so far this season, is looking to return to form after a down year in 2024-25 when it missed the NCAA Tournament for the first time in forever. The Cardinal puts four players in double figures, with juniors Chloe Clardy and Nunu Agara leading the way: 13.2 and 12.8 ppg, respectively. Freshmen Hailee Swain (11.2) and Lara Somfai (10.6) provide support. Agara is also Stahford’s leading rebounder with 8.2 rpg, followed by Somfai at 7.6.

UCD counters with its own quartet in double figures: Ryann Bennett (18.3), Nya Epps (16), Avery Sussex (13.8) and Megan Norris (10.3). Norris averages 11.3 rpg to lead the Aggies, followed by Tegan Young (5.3) and Emmy Ersdala (4.5). The Davis bench is a little deeper, with Vic Baker returning against Boise State, after missing the first 3 games with an ankle injury.

Offense wasn’t the issue in last Friday's loss to the Broncos. An uncharacteristically poor defensive showing was the main culprit. Davis will need to get back to their usual strong team defense when they visit Maples Pavilion.

Anybody going to this game? I may try to take my daughter and a few of her friends.

I used to take the kids down to Stanford for these games (not every year but a couple of times). Too much travel for me now, though. I'll be squarely in front of my TV.

Lame, no ESPN+. Another conference-specific app/platform only on ESPN.

The ladies are getting plenty of looks. Shots not falling. 11-5 Stanford first quarter. Pretty good espn feed.

Our defense has been pretty good. Offense, not so much...shooting 14% including 0-8 from 3. We've had the looks but the shots have been way off.

23-11 Stanford with 5:52 to go in the 2nd Q. Ags are 1-14 from 3...yikes...

Just sloppy play by the ladies. 35-19 Stanford at half.

The Ags are much better than this. This is not the usual Stanford powerhouse team either. The Ags rushed their shots when they got an open look and missed badly on most of them. We needed someone to step up and play with confidence but no one did. The Aggie top 4 scorers are a combined 3-23 including 2-17 from 3.

I switched over to watch the volleyball team against CSUN. The Ags drops the first set, won the second and then won the third in a nail biter 29-27. Tough match in the 4th set now.

Ags lose 70-45. The Ags shot 22% including 7-29 from 3. Ryan Bennett led the Ags with 19.

I agree that the Aggies are a better team than they’ve shown the last two games. Part of it is the growing pains of a young team. 7 of the 10 currently active players have been in the program for less than two full years. And only Ryann Bennett and Tegan Young played big minutes last year. As good as they maybe, and I think several are very good, most are still learning the college game.

And the ladies need to get over looking at the name “Stanford”on the jersey and seeing “Superwoman”. The seniors have been conditioned to expect to lose to the Cardinal, at least subconsciously. It’s going to take actually beating Stanford to change that. Perhaps not just in basketball, or just once, but across the board, since we play them every year in several sports. With some consistency.

Yes, we need to stop looking at Stanford from a "deer in the headlights" perspective. If we would have hit a couple of 3's early it would have given us some confidence but, once we began misfiring repeatedly, it just snowballed and no one could buy a 3.
