You could also make the case that the MW attendance numbers might come down to Davis' level vs. Davis having to catch up to the MW, if recent trends are any indicator of the future.

"Promised donations" are okay, but Sac State's "pledges" are sus... got it. LOL

The projects will be funded through philanthropic gifts, naming opportunities, corporate sponsorships, athletics department resources and, if needed, potential debt or the issuance of bonds.
Lets be honest here, Davis has been able to secure these donations often (new ag innovation center, Mondovi arts district, etc). The other difference is that these projects have already went through various university boards, facility/campus planning groups and detailed construction plans beyond like 4 renderings that sac state had for a single facility in that of a potential (not happening) on campus stadium. Davis has not to this point announced projects like this without knowledge of backing being in place to put these things into reality.

Those "pledges" are also based on myriad of contingencies and earmarked for "NIL" right? Not facilities? Nobody really knows the plan or the means to achieve it. The goalpost keeps getting moved and their communication of said plans have been an incoherent mess. Apples to oranges comp.

I agree. I don’t think anyone in their right mind would build 30k+ now in CA unless you are sac state who still are pushing for eventual build of 40k. I think a full build out here should be 22k-25k Max. But agree that 20-22k with more premium seats seems more realistic

So the main concourse will be facing west? Will that be the home side? That side is totally in the sun. I’m a bit confused on the layout.

You posted on the sac forum
I am trolling a bit on their board because these are "promised donations" and ours are "pledges" but their efforts are somehow perceived as more concrete? GFTOH.
I am not totally sure why you are focused about "promised donations" (where does it say that?) but either way, you cannot be serious acting like the history of Sac State's promises/plans and Davis' project history are even comparable. I want Sac to get new facilities and everything, but I think the plans across the board sports wise for a Davis athletics department that has a solidified conference they are joining, a history of having solid donors, and a phased project style is much more clear and tangible than what Wood and folks have put out.

The comment you made on the sac forum is another example of you missing the point:
Also, if Wood and co. are as media savvy as I think they are, it would not surprise me to see an announcement swoop in over the next couple days that throws water on the UCD happy new pictures announcement.
Davis is focused on a medium-term facility upgrade plan to get in line with the MW conference. Sac is throwing out a few splashy renderings, talking crap on twitter and making wild claims about things that were never going to happen and putting bleachers in the campus rec facility. It is not the same. I don't think Sac should be focused on "dunking" on Davis.

Sac has focused way to much on trying to look flashy without explaining steps for those flashy things to be a reality. Maybe its just my opinion but the whole way the Sac admin has talked about athletic stuff has been obnoxious and ego-driven compared to Davis just focusing on improving without over the top noise.

This is classic! The Aggies have already won Round 1 of The Final Causeway without playing a snap. I love what Dr Mike said about the fairgrounds  Substance over flash...

can I go on record that I couldn’t care less what they do? My son is an alum so I hope they succeed. But their efforts don’t have an impact on us after this Saturday.

Sac board folks already have their minds made up. Too many words for them to process here.

For the record, I love the FCS and the Big Sky. I love the idea of building this thing as drawn and consistently drawing 15,000+ in the near future.

I just think this plan shows UCD is fine with it too. Davis will always move at its own pace, which is usually 1/2 the speed of similar schools when it comes to this stuff. Hopefully its not too slow for a guy like Plough.

Duly noted Doc! All I care about is beating their asses this weekend and they can go off on their adventure. I just hope they survive it (the FBS Independent adventure).

Next step in my opinion. BSC fb members should shell out for higher quality camera crews, camera tech, replay availability and quality of operation. Heck, maybe even start the BigSky Network and manage it in-house vs. outsourcing to ESPN. I'm going to be salty if UCD invests all this money and we have to play at Utah Tech, SUU, Northern Colorado, PSU, CalPoly and half the game is spent with cameras missing the ball, going to replay at the absolute worst time, or giving the viewers motion sickness.

Doesn't the modified Rec Hall reduce student access?

And BB adds a separate workout facility?

This must mean students also lose IM fields... to be relocated where?

The home side remains the same, the new suites, club seating, and Event Space gets built above the current press building.

Addition of new club bar/space on the side that doesnt have the press box. Also new concession stuff/bathroom

Modified rec hall doesn't seem to mess with access. The arc and the Peets next to it are still there with the same configuration i believe. Only change may be moving the bike path a bit next to it?

When will the community and students get to weigh in?

Me too. They say "west facing" but does that mean it faces to the west or that this is the west face of the addition? I think it means that we are looking at the "west face" of the new additions but I'm not 100% sure. I'd like to see a schematic drawing of the whole stadium showing exactly where everything will be located once it is finished.

Backside of the new addition, facing west?

The softball facility is my favorite. The shade is a good upgrade. I went to a couple of games at LaRue which has a better location but portapoties and chain link parks and rec type facilities weren't cutting it even back in 2011 when I last went to a game there.

I always tried to go at least 2-3 softball games especially since they often started before the men's season but Dobbins had better concessions, seating, and bathrooms especially after they spruced it up around 2010.

What is happening to LaRue Field?
