You are correct. I came into the season thinking this was going to be a rebuilding year and next year was going to be really good, but the team has exceeded expectations this season and for that I'm thrilled.

When I talk about CP its not personal, it's just football talk. I'm sure CP is a great kid. Pointing out his strengths and weaknesses is part of sports.

I get your reasoning. I really do. I just want to see the other QB's before we anoint CP as the starter for the next 3 years. We have some really highly regarded QB's waiting in the wings and all I'm saying is, before you commit to CP, you might want to see how this other QB's look on the field before making that decision. Who knows? Maybe we have a diamond in Eason or other QB just sitting on the bench.

Like I said, the next 3 games will say a lot about CP's projection. Teams now have film on CP and will start pressuring him even more. If he continues to fumble, throw INT's, and take sacks because he is slow on his reads and holding onto the ball too long...well...I think at the end of the season we are going to have a different conversation.

Stats are great. I love stats. But I love winning more. I think the coaches have a really good system in place and they know what they are doing. But if CP can't execute the plays....that's a problem. Just keep your options open right now is all I'm saying.

CP held onto the ball too long after Cofield INT and took a huge loss on 1st and 10. That killed the series before it even started. We had to punt because of it. Is our special teams his fault? No. I haven't liked our special teams for the past two years. It's def the weak area of our team and I'm sure coach P will address it in the offseason.

CP is in his first year. He isn't the entrench starter yet, so rotating in other QB's for experience really isn't a bad thing, it actually gives the coaches some game film to chew on.

Again, I'm not bashing CP, this is just football observations. From the amount of games I've seen so far, he continues to make the same mistakes over and over again. Is he talented sure. If its 3rd and 7 in a close game can he go through his progressions and hit the open receiver in under 3 seconds? I don't know if he can. Can he make a deep throw accurately? From what I see, he goes through his first two reads and then pulls the ball down and scrambles a lot. He ran 15 times last game. That's not Shredville, that's an option running offense.

    Go Ags!

CP has been great, but I'm always happy to see 2s and 3s get work for multiple reasons, including if they don't see PT, do they look to the portal? (Damon Wrighster supposedly is also nimble.)

We did see the backup. He completed less than 50% of his passes and threw two picks against Northern Colorado. That's not good.

If you're rotating in QB's (outside of garbage time), you probably don't have a QB. Teams pick their QB and unless he gives them a reason to take him out or gets hurt, they stick with them. And with a young QB, that hopefully is good enough to be our starter for the next couple years, you want to get him as much experience as you can if you believe he's your best option. Personally, I think a guy who is completing almost 70% of his passes, throwing for 250 yards per game with a 17-4 TD-INT ratio (all of which are better if you only look at FCS games), has not given the coaching staff any reason to bench him.

I agree. When a team rotates quarterbacks, it makes the defense's job a bit easier. Often times teams will have a QB who is a running threat and another who is a decent passer. Put the runner in and the D knows it's a run 95% of the time. The passer comes in and it's time for the D-line to get after the passer. For me this is just lazy coaching...just trying to do anything to stay competitive when in reality the team is going to get its butt kicked. I saw it playing and coaching. Not often but often enough.
