Davis offers a BS in Business now (finally), which I assume will help things for business admin portal guys.

The Ivy doesn’t have real scholarships. The best players in that league are leaving before graduating. Same is happening at Stanford. This is a pro sport now. Great for a place like Davis to fill a niche but it will seem like more of a farm system here next year.

We’re on our way back from Paris and we plan to be at the game even if we’re still jet lagged. These long haul flights are pretty tough on us nowadays. It takes longer for us to reset the biological clock now than it did when we were in our 30’s!

Watching the Idaho State - Northern Arizona game the things that stood out to me.

NAU had long drives that kept the ball away from the potentially dangerous offense of ISU. ISU defense was in general poor against the run. The bengal passing game was off, mostly due to Cook being off. I think a key to this game is with the Aggie rush game being used to control things at critical periods.

They should stay at one of the many hotels off 102 in Woodland. No traffic to Davis (15 minute hop) and easy ride to the airport.

Agreed the hotels in Woodland are quick and functional, though not fancy in my memory. Maybe they are looking for a specific brand? Imagine if someone in the travel office is banking a whole team’s worth of Bonvoy points lol.

I think all the football teams stay in Sacramento these days.

Teams that commit to running the ball at the Bengals have great success. Throwing out UNLV (FBS) and Lincoln (maybe the 2nd worse college football team in America behind Simpson up in Redding. Yes, there is a football team there), Southern Utah went for 323 on the ground, Montana State went for 328, and NAU with a very average rushing attack went for 200+. Against UNC, the Aggies looked to have a lot of success with an outside zone play. Great answer for all the 5 down fronts in the BSC. Pair that with their usual inside zone, gap schemes, and jet sweep packages, commit to 12-15 carries between the tailbacks, and we will win this game going away.

Conversely, teams that attempt 45+ pass attempts per game (removing the 20 attempts vs. hapless Lincoln) don't stand much of a chance to win vs. Top 25 teams especially. The Bengals QB is a dealer, but they don't play with Tight Ends, they throw it too much, and play with tempo which typically equates to a lot of opportunities for opposing offenses.

This game will go 3.5 hours+ in an Aggie ass whippin' of the Bengals...

That is disappointing, and something that should probably be on the list of things Plough needs help with.

number one on the list of things to fix would be to get Mrak to charge the same for out of state and grad transfer scholarships. Next year, grad transfers will cost the program twice as much as in-state recruit (same as out of state) - grad transfers have been a lifesaver this year!

Some of our top guys may bounce after two years, but there is a long history of players transferring with below-optimal or even poor results.

Whether that's Marc Hicks (Cal -> Ohio State) or 6'4" TE Jordan Allen (UCD -> CCSF -> Tennessee -> Weber State). Allen was lauded by Coach Gould, was #9 national recruit at CCSF, then was starved for PT, multiple position changes, to wind up at Weber.

The end result for players like Jordan Perryman? A
tryout as an UDFA, and then a shit in the CFL.

An outlier is Teddye Buchanan - but with similar pre-draft combine results - he'd still be highly touted.

Brock at one point says something along the lines of this isn't the Lan Larison three yards and a cloud of dust offense of Cody's last year as OC at Davis. This is incorrect, in Cody Hawkin's last season Lan was behind Ulonzo and playing a lot of wide receiver, and the team was high scoring. The next year Mike Cody was the OC and the offense took a step back. Mike Cody's offense was better at running the ball though according.to Lan Larison, teams get good at what they do.

In regards to transfer difficulty, many of the FCS schools are vocationally oriented. I don’t mean that as a negative but that’s not what UCD does.
If your major is Hospitality and Tourism there aren’t courses that map to that at Davis. If there is no UC equivalent course then it likely won’t get credit. Also UC assumes Math begins with pre-calculus. Other schools will give credit for Algebra and Trig. So depending on whether someone took traditional academic coursework or not they may lose a significant number of units transferring.
