    Aggie Pack Fan Council

What does this article on the Aggie Pack Fan Council mean by "Inaugural Members" (is this is first time this has ever been formed)? Either which way, great to see.

Do they have goals on student attendance per game for football, basketball?

    i.e.

    • Football - 5,000 students per game
    • Basketball - 1,000 students per game

Are they looking to support other sports too?

The Aggie Pack is a universal student showing for any/all sporting events - they better be going for basketball, baseball, soccer, track, x-country, swimming, diving, water polo whatever!

Looking at the names, there is one active board member - maybe he will see this and reply.

Also an Aggie Hall of Famer on the list.

Serious answer to the questions, I'll hopefully provide some insight about the council but will need to keep many details vague out of respect to how transparent and accessible the athletics department was with the committee members with its internal workings and analysis.

Basically, the council had a flurry of activity last football season with a heavy focus on idea generation for various ways to get students engaged. We ended up talking the most about football due to the timing of when the council had most of its meetings, but that was not intended to be the only focus on the council and many discussions were broadly applicable to other sports.

In terms of results, my biggest takeaway is that I can just observe on socials and at the games that the athletics department has been implementing some ideas that look a lot like what we were talking about in the meetings. (Now it could be that some marketing ideas are things that were already being kicked around, and it just helped them sanity check to hear students and alumni pitch similar ideas.)

To say it another way, I'll emphasize that the council is just one of the tools the athletics department uses or plans to use for leveraging community input. So while I'm happy with the work we've done, it's also important to not overstate its significance or dilute kudos away from the athletics staff and teams who put a tremendous amount of work into improving fan outreach.

Getting the City of Davis and students at UCD to develop a passion for football is a tall task.
I've posted a lot about the relationship between Californians and college football (and college athletics in general) a few times......

    thanks sochor/zander for info.

brand new here and have a kid that just started frosh year at davis.

was cool to see that the fb team made progress in attendance last weekend!

in 2005, i was at the game where davis beat stanford in basketball and saw students rush the court.

how often do the FB/basketball/other sports teams get out and engage/volunteer in city of davis (population 66,000+)?

what's been the struggle to get a consistent "x %" of the 31k+ students out to games?

it's a college town located close to a greater metro area of 2.6 million (growing alumni base... businesses)...
