I think WR room has the biggest potential (outside of QB) to have a breakout player. So much of the production graduated that someone is going to have to step up. Gbatu and Dobbins can't do it all.
Perez has the seniority, but I wouldn't be surprised if we mostly see a combo of Fisher and Vargas. In fact, I think Vargas has the dark horse potential to take the starting role.
Hopefully Plough plays more guys in general than he did last year. I believe we had three O linemen who had over 1,000 snaps. I hope we go back to playing a lot of men and winning the fourth quarter.
Fisher and Vargas will be two headed monster with Fisher being workhorse and Vargas being the home run splash guy. Plough has already stated Perez is seeing more time at slot.
Interesting that Plough is making such a big change with Fall camp.
I do understand its mostly an attempt to limit injuries.
He says "doing the same thing is going to get the same results." 11-3 last year was a pretty great result, but I do appreciate the innovation in getting "better and further."
Another dude that looks like an absolute unit is RB Kai Acia. I'm not sure where he fits in on the depth chart, but he's made some appearances on the Insta.
Maybe if Coach Choate wanted claim of Lake Tahoe, then he should have claimed it. It's not like it's a newly discovered lake. I'm not even really a fan of them, but I hope we wear them whenever we play Nevada just because this apparently bothers him. Imagine getting upset at an opponents uniform.
He should probably also focus on trying to win more than 3 games this season and not what a FCS team is wearing.
A new running back on the roster, Mason Walsh had a stellar high school career. 5’9” 190lb, was 2024 graduate who spent a year with the Air Force Academy.. He didn’t get a 247 rating, despite being a high profile player in the San Diego area.
Carlsbad’s Air Force-bound Mason Walsh is the Union-Tribune’s 2023-24 Boys Athlete of the Year
Mason Walsh starred in football and wrestling for Carlsbad, is headed to the Air Force Academy.
He has good balance and is tough for HS to tackle. Caught quite a few passes. Must lack something, probably speed.
We have another San Diego area running back on the roster, freshman Aden Jackson
