He could be. The co-AD's movie referenced are for a transition period while they determine next steps. If they place more weight on actual AD experience for the position, DeLuca could have an advantage. However, the temporary Co-AD's have very impressive resumès too.
I doubt it. If I'm DeLuca I pass on Cal. It's a lateral move right now. He would be better staying on, getting Davis into the MWC. I think he has more success at Davis and when he does, trust me, there will be bigger fish who come calling.
There is no way CAL and UC Davis is a lateral move. While CAL football and basketball have struggled, they have history and some of their Olympic sports regularly bring home NCAA titles. UCD's football and basketball are not juggernauts and Olympic sports are weak with no national presences and general medocity in the Big West. CAL is at the adult table and UCD is still at the kiddie table on the national scene.
