I only know what I’ve learned from this discussion, but it seems there are too many unknowns to judge Taylor. There are no violations of California law alleged as far as I know.
Taylor treated someone in a way that they didn’t like, and that Taylor speaks to a number of people in “hostile and aggressive” tone. Maybe there is more to it.

Unfortunately I don’t think this reflects poorly on Sac.

So Taylor hired Thompson away from Slak. He (Thompson) hasn’t seen 1 season in his new position. So i assume he’s being shown the door also?

I'm glad Trump is taking aim at DEI programsyolohw

Sorry but this undermines your whole argument. What Trump is doing with this is solely to keep straight white men in positions of power and to exclude anyone else.

You can always find exceptions to the rule and with 8 billion people in the world, there are plenty of them. But I would say more people than not fall under what I said in that they do their best to treat people fairly no matter what.

Now what you say (or are accused of saying, even if you didn't) is weaponized more than ever. It's 1000 times worse to be accused of being a racist or a homophobe than it is to be a poor worker.yolohw

This is gibberish. I've never been accused of being a racist or a homophobe. Want to know why? I don't say anything racist and I don't say anything homophobic. Because I try my best to be a nice person. Generally speaking, the people who are accused of being racist or homophobic very likely, on more than one occasions said something racist or homophobic. Don't be an asshole and you won't be accused of being an asshole.

As for movielover, he didn't oversimplify anything. He a right wing lunatic and meant exactly what he said.

Woke = whatever certain people don't like at the moment.

Anyway, Troy Taylor will probably get hired by some HS again then get another job elsewhere.

The Right uses it almost exclusively in a negative context as a response for when anyone calls them or their policies discriminatory in some way.

Interesting how easily a discussion has become demeaning with harsh and aggressive elements.

No need for this one either.

Then why did POTUS select Scott Bessent, treasury secretary? The hedge fund manager is the highest-ranking openly gay official in US history.

And Ric Grenell and Tammy Bruce? Or Jacob Helberg, undersecretary of state for economic growth, energy, and the environment. Not to mention the ambassador to Belgium (Bill White) and Art Fisher, ambassador to Austria. But let's keep it local.

I agree w previous posters. Too many unknowns. We may learn more as time progresses.

I've read about Fresno City College pushing out a highly successful men's basketball coach, wild accusations, he was eventually terminated, and now has won multiple legal verdicts. Bungled investigations, millions in legal fees, very sad.

Apologies for not living online and checking my email notifications all night to see if someone responded to my post.

As for Taylor, the sad truth of the matter is had he been successful, they very likely wouldn't have fired him. If he did what he is accused of doing, he definitely deserved to be fired. They did it because he went 3-9 both years.

It's ok. You set the bar pretty high with your initial response time, and how you quickly swoop in to "defend" everyone from movielover whenever he posts. Who the hell cares what his beliefs are ? You do, apparently. That gave the impression that you do indeed live online. Apologies. Good luck on your quest to defend a message board from the right wing. Be well.

This thread will be closed with the next combative political post. Take it over to the OT board or better yet, meet up in-person and have a cup of coffee - you might actually like each other.

You wrote: "My son follows “all things” Stanford. He told me they were looking for a reason to show Taylor the door. Shortly after he took the job, i was told by a really good source that Taylor would not work out, mainly bc he could not effectively deal with Stanford politics and the “Stanford way.” "

Not a cultural fit? If that's so critical, why don't they vet for that?

You don't always know from an interview. I've got an employee who interviewed beautifully and is a huge pain in the ass to work with.

Grew up in the Northwest, and you occasionally meet someone who knew or was an acquaintance of Ted Bundy. They all say he was the most charming guy ever when you first met him.

Well, I’m not sure but i believe UCD academic senate gets a crack at interviewing our head coach
    candidates.

“ You don't always know from an interview. I've got an employee who interviewed beautifully and is a huge pain in the ass to work with.”
I’ve been able to figure that part out by carefully scrutinizing references and personally calling them. A lot of times they’ll level with you on the phone vs what they say in an email.

Occasionally someone calls me for a reference and I’m not even allowed to acknowledge if they are/were an employee, let alone give any feedback, on orders from the legal department. I’ve found that the “perfect” resumes and interviews are from the people who have “studied for the test” rather than mastered the material.

Yeah, I’m mainly retired these days so i haven’t had to deal with HR stuff in a long time. The process certainly has evolved, good or bad. Before retirement, at some point i was required to submit all my interview questions to HR ahead of time for approval, and had to ask the exact same questions to every candidate. I wasn't allowed the flexibility to explore an answer with further questions. But 25 years ago i stopped a guy who was essentially hired, and would be reporting to me. I found out his references were not called, but were only emailed. After making a few calls, it was clear he had a drug problem that had affected his on the job performance. But fortunately he did eventually get clean (we’re in the same profession so not hard to hear things) and obtained another job. Maybe i wouldn’t be able to make these calls under todays HR rules.

I'm not exactly sure why you think I'm "defend(ing) the board". When movielover comes in with his completely unnecessary right wing propaganda and transphobia - which is exactly what his post from the Stanford message board one, bold text and all, was - yes, I'm going to respond and call him out on it.
