That's a really good question and I hope someone who has some coaching experience can answer it because it seems like an odd thing to do.

We were just offered 2 for 1 tickets to Carrot Top. I told the guy ‘we’ve suffered enough this trip!’

I don't know. It depends on how the Administration feels about being the perennial "sleeping giant."

If you count this season he is 210-216 (.492). 14 full seasons.

I am sure he is feeling the squeeze even without talking to Rocko. My only question is does he have it in him to carry on.I would think Rocko would go easy on him for one more year but who would enjoy the incredible pressure? I doubt he needs the money……. But who knows? Very proud likable guy.

Poly changed coaches and improved to 7th in the league (a big jump from their past). Bust that was helped considerably by 4 transfers from Colorado Mesa who followed the coach. Can they continue their upward swing after the lose a bunch after this season?

We have to make a big investment in basketball so we can get foreign players, transfers and get players out of SOCal. Can we get a collective to help with that or is our donor based stretched thin with football.

Les seems to get more out of his players than the competition. When we’ve had talent and depth (but usually less than opponents), we’re at the top of the league. Beside Fullerton, our talent was never obviously better than our league competition.

We have often bemoaned the lack of big men on Aggie squads over the years, but Coach Les seems to like the 6'6" to 6'9" power forward types who are quick and athletic such as Josh Fox, Chima Moneke and Christian Anigwe. They were good defenders, rebounders and scorers. While Niko was good at two of those three, he had little offense and the lack of any other good scorers besides TY this past season amplified that problem. I don't see anyone on the current roster who can fill that role, so maybe one of the new recruits or a transfer can do that. A big question is whether that strategy will work in the MWC. \

We do well when we have a star player - Corey Hawkins (connection), Moneke, TJ Shorts. One or two teammates took questionable medical redshirt to play w Hawkins senior year. But it's unlikely we win many tourney games playing small ball.

69aggie: My colleagues who have met Les don't describe him as likable. Townies mention he still lives in Granite Bay.

Ty had a good year, but I wouldn't put him among our top ever guards.

Post-game comments from Coach Les and Coach Price:

    Les:

. "That's a tough locker room right now."

"Our guys are really emotional, but we as coaches told them how incredibly blessed we were to be able to coach them," Les added.

"They put a ton of blood, sweat and tears into this season. We had some great moments and we had some adversity, but it seems like six or seven games ago we sort of hit a wall."

"I was still worried at half.".

"We were shooting the ball well, but we don't like to give up that many points. All credit to Cal Poly. They played a great game against us."

"We lost our focus and our defensive energy just wasn't there."

"When they made that run in the second half our ball movement wasn't good. We were trying to get points back in a hurry and rushing our shots."

"They, being Aggies, know that they may have played their last game here, but that we as coaches will always be here continuing to support them as they go out into the world."

    Price:

"I was really proud of our effort."

"Davis is a great team and they were really disruptive to our offensive rhythm in the first half, but we came out with a tremendous amount of toughness in the second half to change the momentum and win the game. Our guys worked really hard and we hope we can keep it going for another night or two."

    Let's dump the coach? Really?

Unless something has loosened up in Mrak you're going to have trouble pulling in athletes that can get into UCD. Money? Football is going to suck that up.

Face it: We're not in Irvine or Santa Barbara or anywhere else in the Southland or the Bay Area. Sacramento isn't interested in UCD - they have Sac State. We have farmers and some alum. The new college game is about the $$$ and we don't have that. We'll get some TV money from Mountain West. But you KNOW that will go to football.

TY stayed here because he wanted to. UCD had something to offer him. I hope it was the school and the coaching staff. It sure wasn't NIL money.

The academic excuse is just not reality. In this era just about anyone with a pulse can get into Davis as a transfer athlete. What is the vision for the program?

There's a new topic that was just posted here on the forum regarding NIL in California universities and it reports that UCD gave a total of $93,000 in NIL to athletes in 2024 and that included $50,000 to TY and $25,000 to Lan Larison.

I don't think the sentiment on the board is that. I'm hearing people wondering where the program is headed after 14 predominantly mediocre seasons.

I think we could use a fresh face on the staff somewhere to help with recruiting. Young assistant who can work SOCal and find some long, athletic wings!

I think many of us have some legitimate concerns about the current state of affairs of MBB after this disappointing season and our impending move up to stiffer competition in the MWC in 2026. So I started a new topic where we can have a conversation about everything and anything regarding MBB currently and heading into the future. I thought we might attract a wider conversation from more Aggie fans if this discussion had a topic of its own rather than here in the Poly game thread.

The discussion thread is titled: MBB Discussion: Your Thought About the Status of MBB Now and Going Forward. Post-up your thoughts there. I think there's a lot to talk about.
