The Big West-leading Rainbow Wahine visit University Credit Union Center on Senior Day this weekend. While Hawaii has all but clinched the regular season championship, the Aggies will be looking to hold on to 3rd place, as well as send off their departing seniors with a final home-court victory. With Hawaii riding a 14-game win streak, UCD will need to stay focused and play well for the entire 40 minutes.
While Hawaii wins with defense, allowting a league low 52.5.1 ppg., Lily Wahinekapu at 10.8 ppg. leads a balanced attack. Ritorya Tamilo pulls down 5.3 rpg., to head another balanced effort on the glass.
Five Aggie seniors will be playing their final home game. Bria Shine, Vic Baker, Mazzie Harris, Sydney Burns and Tina Sabel have all exemplified Aggie Pride during the years they’ve worn the Davis uniform, and each has provided memorable moments on the court. They will be missed, individually and collectively. The UCD WBB Instagram page is posting a too-brief vignette of each player, one each day, this week. Check them out.
Great basketball game between two good teams that have pretty good rivalry going. I thought this was perhaps the best overall game the Ags have played this season. Sidney Burns brought a ton on energy and really got the team going when they needed it. Loved to see all the seniors play so well and get the win in their final home game in front of their families and a great Aggie crowd.
The auto-generated game summary mentions Norris coming off the bench for the first time this season but doesn't bother explaining why: Coach starts all her seniors on Senior Day. I personally find this a very cool tradition.
It was a GREAT crowd. You could feel the energy build as the ebb and flow of the game slowly brought the Ags first into contention and then into a narrow lead. Terrific moment for the families of the graduating seniors.
I very much liked the tribute videos they did with Greg Wong's voice over. Good work by the AV guys.
