2007 San Diego at Aggie Stadium 49/46, last minute TD drive to bear an incredible Josh Johnson

interesting one. Last game of the first year of an underwhelming inaugural year at Aggie Stadium. Harbaugh, Josh Johnson? Matt Engle. Second straight year of a losing record. Good crowd. I was there. Walked on the next month to the team.

not Harbaugh, his last game was at Toomey. That was just an exciting game in front of an enthusiastic afternoon crowd! Matt Engel saves the day. Beside MSU game this year, most exciting finish at Aggie Stadium.

Hail Bakari was great finish to a lousy game.

2018 vs Idaho State 44-37 in OT

And the two wins, especially the first, at Montana.

the Idaho State win was so entertaining. Homecoming, OT, Maier Magic. My 30th birthday party lol. It had it all.

my seat mate (old teammate) left with a few minutes to go, turned his car around and ran back into the stadium for the finish!

Some more criteria to think about potentially: significance of win in program’s history, entertainment value, quality of the game/ opponent, conference title implications, significance of memory.

The Tulsa game. A FBS team coming off a bowl game. The impressive thing about it was the way the offense maintained drives at the end if the game, especially considering the pre and in game expectation that the heat and Tulsa’s depth would wear down the Aggies.

No. 21 UC Davis Posts 45-0 Shutout Against No. 20 Montana State. 2006
On the road, coming two weeks after Montana State beat Colorado in Hawkins’ first game as coach there. Montana State had just lost two yards on the ground and never got past the 38 yard line.

[2009] I was at Boise State with a couple of others on this thread. Boise State was ranked 5th, and although many at Boise State thought we were D2, we kept up with them the entire game.

The Stanford game, Hail Bakari, Causeway 2010 with a Thunderstorm comeback, the UNI and Illinois State playoff games, and probably the Montana or PSU games this year but it could be recency bias.

The thunderstorm game was amazing. Playing in an empty stadium pre-COVID lol.

Its the "Farm vs. Farm" DVD the Athletic Department released. Loudest Aggie football crowd I've ever experienced, by far. Aggie6thMan ripped his ankle open trying to climb the fence to get on the field.....never got down there, but we definitely tried.

This one is right up there for sure. The Toreros were riding high after the Harbaugh years, and Josh Johnson was getting national attention.
Beating the 10-1 Harbaugh Toreros at the Toom started a nice little rivalry for like 5-6 years (?)

Of games that I've personally been to I think the Stanford game has to rank overall #1, but there have been a lot of great ones over the years.

The UNI game was definitely a celebration of a comeback year for the program, and a historic D1 victory. Top 10 for me.

Was it '05, '06, '07? I know Plough threw the last TD, but the Aggies marched into Bozeman and beat Montana State 45-0.

Whoever said the crazy 2018 game at home vs. Idaho State, in overtime, double overtime (?) - I never got to see the finish because my buddy was so drunk at the game I had to walk him out before security threw us out - so we ended up watching the finish at The Grad.

Winning at Tulsa - overlooked win, that was crazy...I know we beat San Jose State as well one season - think it was Mark Johnson's defense who held the Spartans to like 13 points? 2010 I believe...and the 2018 squad laying 44 on SJSU - that's when we all knew that team really had something, certainly on offense, the Aggies were going to be potent.

Favorite Causeways - 2018 in Reno, thumping them so awfully bad to get the high Playoff seed, remarkable. The second. 2003 ran Mahasin 34 times and beat Sac 31-27, Flanigan threw it 12 times all game - it was so anti-Aggie in the win, but Mahasin was a beast, ran for over 170.

Favorite Horseshoe was 2004, was a super tight game, comeback game winning TD drive on a play Bob drew up on a napkin on the bus ride down. Won 36-33 and my high school football teammate secured the win with a pick at the end of the game.

2005 game vs. Stanford. 20-17. Although we only finished the season at 6-5, we were 0-2 going into that game.

2021 game vs. Tulsa. 19-17. Finished the season at 8-4, with a loss in the 1st round of the playoffs.

2018 game vs. San Jose State. 44-38. Finished the season at 10-3 with a loss in the 2nd round of the playoffs.

2024 game vs. #5 Idaho. 28-26. We were 3-1 going into that game but were without a quality win.

Too bad the Reno games aren’t included. That game at the Toom was one of the most action filled games in Aggie history with a standing room only crowd.

Yes, the 2003 Causeway Classic! 50th. Jon Barragan-lead (off the bench!) 2 minute drive, comeback win. Every bit as good as Engle v. San Diego 2007 for drama

Barragan, right - he came off the bench and put a drive together to win Causeway in '03.

Those were the last years where they had Causeway deep into the night - and over at Sac, Aggie fans were walking around in groups, and there were tons of cops on horses walking the lots just making sure nobody got any ideas about jumping a rival. The good old days! When the bad blood made you take note of your surroundings, trying to explain that kind of situation to my niece and nephew is strange, they can't fathom being in fear of getting attacked at a sporting event.

Montana 2018 was a big deal - we could okay with the big boys and could be a champion/playoff team. And, the stunning turnaround was something to behold!

Stanford was a blessing and a curse. Gave us incredible notoriety BUT left the program in a place where we couldn’t be a FCS contender -> I think the administration thought that game showed we could win at that level with brains and spunk and never funded the program like teams we needed to compete with. Took a decade and changes at Mrak and Hickey to put us on the right path.
