yah. For the athlete and player Mellot is, his passing skills, including reading coverages was not great tonight. That’s just from relying on his legs historically which has worked, but Miller played the more complete game and was much better in the pass game. That was the difference tonight.
Another National Championship for NDSU. 35-32 over MSU.
I think MSU HC, Brent Vigen, made a big mistake when he decided to go for on a 4th 5 in their own territory with a minute to go in the first half. They didn't make it and the Bison got the ball back on a short field and scored in the final seconds of the first half to make it 21-3 at the half.
MSU was struggling on both sides of the ball in the first half. It would have been much wiser to punt the ball and probably go into the locker room behind 14-3 instead of 21-3 where they could regroup and come out in the second half with adjustments. As it was, they made halftime adjustments and then came back and outscored the Bison 29-14 in the second half. Without that short field, Bison TD to end the first half, the Bobcats win the game...
Agreed about the decision not to punt on the first half. I don’t think NDSU missed a single tackle - that was a major factor as some runs were 1 missed tackle from a big run if not TD.
Well, the Ags held Montana State to fewer points than NDSU.
I didn't like it when combined with the decision to kick the FG to make it 14-3. If you're going to be conservative, then do that. If you're going to be aggressive, do that. But why kick the FG to make it 14-3 (which means you still need 2 TD's) on 4th and 3 but then go for it on 4th and 5 a few minutes later? And even if you're being aggressive, I agree that you probably still punt the ball knowing you get the ball to start the 2nd half. Get in to half down 14-3 and regroup (which they did).
Good to see the ratings were up this year. I wonder what the ratings would have been had they played it at 10:30 our time on Saturday before the NFL started, but regardless, it was a good idea to not have it on Sunday to conflict with the NFL.
I don’t remember if all the games were on ESPN+ in years past.
This year there were game available on network TV though. The final, both semis and I believe 2 of the QF as well. That might not be what you meant though.
i just stream, and I only have ESPN+, and this year every game that they also had on ESPN2 or other ESPN variant remained on ESPN+ as well. Last year and I think years prior, if they put the FCS games on the main channels, you couldn’t watch them on ESPN+.I mention this in relation to the bigger audience that you note, the game was still available on ESPN+ which many FCS fans use.
Final Highlight Package of the FCS Year from Matt Highlights #2 - who has done a fantastic job covering the FCS this season, especially UC Davis.
Did anybody else notice from the Championship broadcast that Montana ran a University advertisement? Thought that was hilarious, was laughing with SochorField when it ran!
Wasn't able to find it. It was a basic advertisement, very respectful - just though it was funny they paid to run it during the Championship broadcast.
