UC Davis moves in front of South Dakota in my rankings after a strong second half to pull away from Montana, 30-14, in a top-10 clash.

What was the highest Sac was ranked in their 12-0 season?

Sac was #2 at regular season's end, beating Davis 27-21 in 2022. They beat No. 13 Richmond at home after a 1st Round bye, then lost a showstopper in Sacramento to Incarnate Word 63-66. Only 13,722 people showed for the 3rd round matchup with UIW...compared to 23,073 at the Causeway Classic.

And the funny part about that causeway was they were bragging that they had the thousands of fans in the stands when half of them were Aggies.

But don't let the facts get in the way that ThE HoRnETs aRe SaCRAMento's tEAm!!!! lol.

Does Montana State move to #1 @ 11-0 with this W over #4?

2. North Dakota State 10-1
3. South Dakota State 9-2
4. UC Davis 9-2
5. South Dakota 8-2

Doubt it. NDSt's only loss is by 5 on the road vs. an 8-2 Colorado team. If our game had ended 30-8, then maybe. But that's still the clear top 5. Maybe you swap 1 and 2, maybe you swap 4 and 5. SDST is locked at No. 3 for now.

We're all Bison fans this week though. If we beat Sac and NDST beats SD, I bet we jump back to 4. SD is at home so it's a bit different than when they lost to SDST by 3 on the road. Now, if we beat Sac by, say, less than 10 and SD loses a nailbiter, maybe they stay in front of us (and probably rightfully so in that case).

But this week...

No. 6 Incarnate Word beat a 6-4 team by 7 on the road. Not moving up.
No. 7 Mercer got crushed by Bama. Not moving up.
No. 8 Idaho beat 3-8 Weber by 7 at home. Not moving up.
No. 9 Villanova lost to a 5-6 Monmouth. Moving way down.
No. 10 Montana beat 2-8 Portland St by 11 at home. Moving up 1 maybe by default.

I'd say outside of winning today, the results went about as well as possible for us. Beat Sac by literally any margin and I bet we're the 5 at worst. Put it on Sac and we're probably the 4 unless South Dakota beats NDSt. Man it would be really cool to get 2 home games at a minimum (assuming we win the first one).

In the committee’s ranking after games of October 26,, South Dakota was 4th, Davis 5th.
In Massey ratings after this week that the Committee looks at they are still 4th and Davis 5th. I think SD just needs to be within a touchdown of North Dakota State game to remain 4th, unless Davis wins by more than two touchdowns.

Man it would be really nice to get the 4 seed and get that QF game at home.

Davis is now averaging 500 yards a game in conference play, tops in the Big Sky, taking the lead from Montana State

Great effort Saturday considering the many mistakes made-- Not blaming anyone but the game changer one play was 1st Q up 8 --3rd and 5 for MS at midfield and we lost containment on Mellott and let him escape to his left and he found his receiver covering the whole field right to left with maybe 1 Aggie within 30 yards-- the only way to have a chance to contain a gifted player like Mellott is contain, contain, contain at all cost-- the kids just get sucked in to the excitement of making a play and you have a 1 in 10 chance of making that play against that kind of athlete-- if the escape left is not there he doesn't make the play and in my opinion a whole different ballgame--Still a terrific effort all around

Those are just last weeks rankings with the records updated.

that makes more sense. It looked like we had a blitz called and either someone blew an assignment or something happened like you described. It was too open from the get-go otherwise. That one hurt….but I think the punt return was the big killer.

I believe this is the one where Shamburger slipped and fell.
I recall seeing multiple guys in our secondary slipping/falling resulting in big plays....

This guy drops UCD to #5 and moves USD to #4.
UCD loses by 2 pts to #2, while USD barely beats unranked UND.

I do agree with Montana State being #1

Not much different than South Dakota losing by 3 in OT on the road to No.3 while we didn't play and we jumped South Dakota in the polls. Should sort itself out this week though, just like which team should be No. 1. As long as they keep the same logic if we beat Sac and SD loses, I'm fine with it.

We're only 24 points behind SD in the poll but are 79 points ahead of UIW in 6 and 143 ahead of Idaho at 7. So win and we're 5 at the worst and being that close to SD is a good thing. We were 46 points ahead of them this week so that suggests that any loss by SD and a win by UCD should be enough to jump us to 4 in the poll.

#21 NAU trying to be the 5th Big Sky playoff team. If they beat Eastern, they are 8-4.

That Lincoln win stinks. Does it count?

i think the game vs. powerhouse Lincoln of Oakland doesn't count for them. it should be an automatic disqualification!

This is one of the two main polls that the Selection Committee gives a lot of weight. It's hard to figure out what they're thinking by moving South Dakota up to #4 ahead of the Aggies when the Yotes only beat an unranked, 5-6 North Dakota team by 6 points while we lost by 2 to undefeated, #2 Montana State. Smells fishy to me....

Likely nothing fishy. Lot of voters will overreact to a win or a loss regardless of how good/bad it is.

No. 4 South Dakota 1237 points
No. 5 UC Davis 1172 points

South Dakota loses by 3 in OT at No. 3 South Dakota State
UC Davis doesn't play

Week 9:
No. 4 UC Davis 1196 points
No. 5 South Dakota 1174 points

So that's a swing of 87 points in our direction (+24 for us, -63 for SD). This week we saw a 70 point swing in their direction after fairly similar circumstances. Beat Sac, have SD lose to NDSt and we should jump up to 4.

Maybe not "fishy" but it seems like fuzzy logic to me...
