Great for TY scoring 35. Not so great that he almost half of the team's total.

I think that Washington will get killed in Big 10 Conference play from what I saw last night.

Big west basketball has come a long way. We use to get destroyed by playing up a level. It was night and day with power 5 bigs and athleticism. The last few years, I’ve felt that we have been pretty even with these types of schools to be honest.

    8. I’ve mentioned UC Davis guard TY Johnson a few times and he was as dominant as you’ll see for a Big West team playing a Big Ten team on the road. He finished with 35 points on 25 shot attempts with 1 assist and 4 turnovers. The performance reminds me a lot of the loss last year to Nevada when Kenan Blackshear had 31 points on 22 shot attempts. The difference was last year Blackshear had 5 assists and just 1 turnover.

It’ll be interesting to see how UW performs on defense over the course of the season. UC Davis had an assist on just 26.1% of their baskets last night. The lowest mark in the country last year was 36.6%. So that number will go up. But Sprinkle’s last 2 teams at Montana State both finished top-10 in the country in opponent assist percentage. Will that be a function of UW’s defensive approach or did they just happen to play against what will be one of the more ball dominant guards in the country for game number one?
